Great workhorse knife - much improved sheath

Posted by Simon on 24th Jul 2017

The 2000 was one of the first Mora knives I bought, and this one is a worthy successor. I have strayed away from Mora recently, but when this arrived, I found myself questioning why ? They may not be as "sexy", don't feel as "macho", and probably don't have the "kudos" of more esoteric knives, but that's missing the point (no pun intended) The blade's superb in every respect, and the spine produces a wonderful shower of sparks with a good rod, so I won't dwell on those. It's the handle that's really made me think. Depending on your perspective, it's drab, indifferent or, I think, simply understated ! It fits well in the hand, bare or gloved, has no "hot spots", you can use it for hours without any discomfort, it stays grippy when wet - it just does all you can ask of it. The lanyard hole is a welcome addition, as is the modified sheath design. As per another review (by Snufkin) it is truly ambidextrous and the frog, which simply clips over the sheath proper means that can be left on the belt and the knife stowed out of sight when needed. Awesome HH service as ever.

Phenomenal knife for the money, this will out perform many a knife. Awesome spine works really well with firesteel and scraping wood for tinder. Scary sharp & fantastic grip without any hotspots.

    review update

Posted by Snufkin on 27th May 2017

So I've now had some time to use the Kansbol more fully, and it has become my go to knife. Now the price has dropped it's the best knife in the Mora range.

    KANSBOL

Posted by SteelHeadSteve on 17th May 2017

Boy, Mora are really on top of their game these days, are they not. The Kansbol is a top product, period. Now, a word or two about micro-bevels and modified scandi-grinds. Professional knife sharpeners tell me that a micro-bevel lasts longer, or stays sharper than a full scandi grind. The Tops BOB Fieldcraft knife also has a modified scandi-grind. So, I am glad my Kansbol came with micro-bevel, and I shall be keeping it. Thanks to HH for a great price. I am very pleased with my purchase.

    Worthy sucessor to the 2000

Posted by Snufkin on 11th Sep 2016

I have always been a fan of the Mora 2000, so I was keen to get this knife. The 2000 is awesome but this improves on it . The satin finish doesn't glare as much when working in bright sunlight, and the sharp spine is great for de -barking and making fine shavings as well as sparking a ferro rod. The handle is a little chunkier, which I like and the sheath is an improvement allowing me to leave the frog on my belt and stow the knife in my pack when I don't need it. It's still ambidextrous, which, as a southpaw, is always nice. So why 4 stars and not 5? It came with a slight secondary bevel, so I'll waste some metal removing it and the price, I don't think it's that much of an improvement over the 2000 to warrant it. Still pleased with it. And the usual great HH service.

Outstanding quality. The Mora that won me over!

Posted by Shawn on 12th Jan 2016

I never truly 'got' Mora. Surely quality and price are linked? With this model, I'm a convert. Lightweight for B.O.B.? Fully functional as fine work/back-up piece? Primary carry? Ambidextrous? Comfortable for extended/hard work? Wonderful piece for novice or experienced user? Please believe, like most, this 'expert' owns poorer but more expensive examples that now lie in a drawer. Buy this Mora.
