Gudy van Poppel is a fulltime Dutch Bladesmith well known for his work in both Europe and the United States. He started as a genuine Blacksmith and has been making blades for several decades. His Gitano design for Lion Steel he describes thus, "My idea behind the Gitano was to make a folding knife that is based on old south European folding knives in a new style. What I like about these knives is its elegant lines and often large blades in relation to the handles"

LionSteel loved Gudy’s idea and decided to start this new collaboration with him and Tools For Gents that helped us to develop the final versions. The Lion Steel Gitano Carbon Fibre is an extremely practical folding knife that joins the “Tradition by LionSteel” collection.

It has a Niolox stainless steel satin blade and, in this version, 6AI4V titanium bolsters and liners and carbon fibre scales. For its light weight and average dimensions, Gitano is the new elegant slipjoint knife to keep with you in your everyday working life.

    Giano Carbon Fibre

Posted by Chris Robinson on 12th Mar 2021

This is one of the best knives I've purchased from H/H, fantastic in every respect, the back spring is extremely strong,. The build quality of the Gitano is exceptional, and it's UK legal.

    well made knife

The quality off this knife is excellent, very sharp straight out the box, very strong spring on the slip joint, its a fairly big blade not an EDC on a small handle so not a big knife overall, i like the shape its different to what i usually go for, i did find the back of the knife towards the tip fairly sharp and did manage to cut myself folding it up with such a strong spring, hopefully a drop of oil it will loosen up, all in all an excellent knife
