I really recommend getting this base for the KME system. It holds the sharpener handle steady on the desk for you and saves your arm getting tired when you're sharpening if you're hand-holding the sharpener. The rod unscrews from the base, and the whole lot will fit in the KME sharpener case to keep it all together nicely.
