The Black Fox Bean Gen 2 is a Serge Panchenko design for Black Fox knives. Available in three handle materials; Zebra wood, stainless steel and G10, this is a UK friendly carry pocket knife of superb quality and innovation.

The excellent functionality of the flat stainless steel slipjoint is packaged in a reduced design with clear lines. The modified sheepsfoot blade of 440C has an oval thumb hole for easy opening and a pocket clip on the back (tip-up) adds to the knife's practical functionality.

What is even more impressive is the low price for a knife of such excellent quality.

Great little knife but not a fan of the pocket clip

Posted by Jonny on 19th Jun 2020

This is a great little knife for the price. I have the G10 version and it's extremely solid feeling with a really nice action. The blade has no side to side play and the centering is spot on. The black finish on the metal parts is well done and will look even better once it starts to wear more. Pretty sharp out the box and with a quick strop The only thing I don't like is the pocket clip. If it was deep carry without the Black Fox writing, which is quite pronounced on the black version, would make this almost perfect as a great value little everyday knife well within the UK laws.

    Adequate

Posted by Ben on 6th Jun 2020

I've had my eye on this for a while. Chose the g10 with stone washed black blade as I wanted something a bit different to things I already had. It's a great little knife. Brilliantly designed. If I could change anything it would have to be to make the whole thing about 10mm longer in the handle and blade. Also I love the flipper on the blade that was on the original serge gen 1 versions. The flipper would definitely be great for people with meaty thumbs.

Exactly What you want a knife this size to do.

Lovely little knife. Already used to cut rope and open parcels and that’s exactly what you want from a knife this size. Blade construction is great and as with all Heinnie products it comes sharp straight out the box.

    lovely little knife

I bought this knife late on Monday night(about half 11) and it had arrived by Wednesday afternoon. HH customer service has been phenomenal from the start and i'm already looking to buy some more products from them. The knife itself is a beautiful little knife! I got the zebra wood version and it looks amazing and feel rather good in the hand. The blade is razor sharp and the deploys really smooth. This will defiantly be rostered into my EDC would highly recommend

Lovely light duty and fidget knife (get the wood over the black)

Posted by Davy on 4th Apr 2020

I picked this up on a whim and intially went for the zebra wood version, which is really very nice looking. I later bought the blackout g10 version but the wood is a better knife, more on that later. The blade is sharp and while basically the same size as a spyderco roadie (which I also love) feels bigger and has a much more useful shape. 440c steel is fine and for the price decent. I actually like 440c and in my opinion, it is better than 8cr13mov any day. One handed opening is amazing for such a small knife, albeit something you have to get used to. The detent instead of a backspring is ok for light duty but beware that there is no finger choil or half stop so it could bite easily. Be careful and know the knife's limitations and it is still really worth it. Back to wood vs g10, g10 is obviously better grip. Other than that, the wood version beats it in everything else. The black one is a distressed so it will look old and a little beat up, which would probably suit a harder use knife more. The wood is much more classic looking and the silver metal has a much nice look to it. The main difference is that the black one is much stiffer and the wood has a much better action to it (maybe the additional mass of the coating?). I would steer clear of the black one for this reason since it makes it feel much cheaper. Overall, very pleased and cannot put it down. This will be my go to little knife from now on.

    Simplicity done right, but...

Posted by Schmidt on 31st Mar 2020

I bought 1 of these knives (the all steel version) last year as i am a huge fan of Serges designs and its great to see them in an easily available price bracket. Unfortunately my knife came with a hairline crack on the spine of the knife where the torx screw that controls the blades opening/closing is situated. Heinnie were great and sent me a replacement which initially looked fine, although this time the blade didn't open so that the blade ran straight along the spine edge and the handle (centering was fine), but for under £30 this is no big deal. I had this 1 for just over a week and had only used it to open some light packaging when i saw a hairline crack yet again in the same position as before. This time i took a short drive to Heinnies HQ where they saw the flaw on the knife and gave me a refund (as i CNC machinist i assume that torx screw had been over tightened). So you probably ask why 3 stars... well 1 for Heinnies customer service, 1 for Serges simple but great designs, and 1 more for this knifes fidget factor!

    Quality EDC Knife

Posted by Chris on 4th Feb 2020

I bought this as an EDC knife for the collection. I opted for the zebra wood finish. It looks excellent. The one handed opening system works well, blade is sharp and the blade shape functional. It would have easily been five stars , the only things I would change are the slip joint which could be stiffer and the carry clip deeper. Excellent knife for the price though
