    Bare bones garden tool

This machete looks really cool and cuts really well. I would suggest you wear gloves in use for it if very uncomfortable.

Good item let down by construction

Posted by Jim on 27th Sep 2021

Love the sheath and the blade itself, but unfortunately the handle scales on mine were slipping slightly when swinging the blade, giving a worrying “crack”. I tried to tighten the bolts, and let me stress; with the barest of pressure, they stripped immediately. As the screws seem to be made of cheddar cheese I would be concerned using this heavily.

    It’s The Dog’s Doodahs

Posted by Dave Riley on 21st Apr 2021

For a Working Tool Brush Cutting it’s Ideal. So Well Balanced And For an Average Sized Hand Perfect. Though I Would Think Great Brush Cutter. Sent one to a Friend in Costa Rica. He Thought a Great Brush cutter. Better than His Machete. Though Large Hands Would Find the Handle Too Small For Comfort. Only My Thought Anyway. So Just Buy it. It Makes a Great Addition to My Knife Collection.

This is a great product for what its supposed to be, ok it might not be the best made nor does it feel comfy in hand but what you gonna pick up first to do the heavy work?this or your £300 deluxe machete?

    Barebones Nata Tool

Posted by Richard on 18th Mar 2021

Bought to clear brambles and other undergrowth from the garden, after seeing reviews on Barebones site. It makes short work of everything including small saplings! Supplied with the usual Heinnie speed & efficiency.

Performs well, fit and finish adequate

Posted by IJL on 14th Mar 2021

Spent the first day clearing holly, clearing brambles and removing small hazel branches. This managed all these garden jobs well. There is enough weight for getting through larger stock but better suited for lighter work. The ergonomics are not as good as I was hoping. The handle is just too skinny for my medium hands and the butt shape digs into the palm and becomes uncomfortable quickly when held farther back up the handle for those extra-leverage swings. The handle looks the part, but on closer inspection, the fit and finish leaves a bit to be desired. An over tightened and chewed up hex bolt displays the lack of skill on final assembly and there is slight overhang on the walnut scales. Fair for the price? Not sure, but this is the reason for losing a star. The edge came fairly sharp out of the box and held up OK. It welcomed a few notches after eating dirt when getting low on the holly stumps, but I wasn't babying it, and it does take a good edge after ten minutes on the whetstone. Overall a good slasher/light chopper that I won't worry about as much as my TOPS & Condor blades.
