The TOPS Operator 7 is huge! TOPS went big with thick steel and handles to make a hefty, well-balanced knife that will excel as a workhorse tool.

Made out of 8mm thick 1075, the deferentially heat treated blade will be impact resistant on the edge with a very strong spine. The handles start with Tan Canvas Micarta on the bottom sandwiched with Black G10 on top that has a great texture for grip. The entire handle is also over 2.5cm thick once assembled to fill out the user's hand much like an ax or hatchet handle would.

Because it is a tool, it’s got to be useful and it's got to be comfortable. This knife will find its place with survivalists, bushcrafters and wild campers alike. The rounded handles and hand guard make it a joy to use and the finger choil allows the user to get great precision for finer cuts. The six and a half inches of cutting edge will suffice for the vast majority of cutting tasks, and the weight will help the knife to do a lot of the work itself. The included Kydex sheath has a dangler attachment.

    surprisingly refined for a TOPS

I like Tops tools & knives, but they do tend to place practicality over aesthetics, but with the operator 7, they've got just the right balance. It looks to be a massive, chunky thing from the photos, but in the hand it's quite agile & easy to use. Razor sharp OTB, with a variety of grips available, thanks to the well thought out ergonomics of the handle. The mixture of G10 & micarta feels good & grippy, and the sheath holds it solid with no rattles. The stainless bale that the dangler part of the sheath hangs off is ridiculously heavy gauge- you could hang a truck off it! The blade stock is incredibly thick too, without compromising the usability of the edge- it cuts, shaves & chops just great...!

    Fantastic

I have the Blackout version of this as in the wet British climate the coating will resist corrosion better.

Usual TOPS outstanding build & finish. Razer sharp out of the box. Does not seem as big as it looks in Youtube videos once you get hold of one, maybe my black finish is responsible for this illusion.

The balance is also very good so you do not notice the weight.

HH description is spot on for it's uses.

I bought mine for bushcraft & will partner it with my MSK 2.5 to use in the woods when I' m travelling light or when I am carrying my heavy camera gear & want to build a quick bird hide out of natural materials.

All in all a fantastic knife but will say the G10 is not as grippy as micarta but the handle shape still gives a very secure grip.

    Tony.

    OPERATOR 7

Posted by SteelHeadSteve on 7th Mar 2019

A very stylish fixed blade from TOPS. Mine arrived oiled from the factory. Some collectors are saying that the "operator 7", is their best fixed-blade ever. It's nice, and so is the scabbard. So, it's a very sturdy, well designed fixed-blade. It has a very nice palm-filling handle. The balance-point is at the hilt. Choke-up grip works very well, the thump clears the top guard just fine. The bevel is even and well-ground. Discerning hunters may wish to tune it up a tad, with a ceramic-rod. The kydex "dangler" scabbard is first class. Retention is very firm, just the way I like it. Not much chance of losing this in the woods. And it even has a proper drain-port (golf course clap). Some people have described the "operator 7" as a survival knife, with tactical styling, and I am happy to go along with that. There are plenty of reviews on YouTube, so take your pick. Thanks to HH for a great price. I am very pleased with my purchase.
