Light and fierce, Raptors dominate the skies with extraordinary speed, agility, and precision. The lightweight and packable TAD Raptor Hoodie is a fully seam-taped hardshell that maintains your agility in adverse conditions. Made with Polartec's highly aerobic Neoshell fabric, the Raptor lets you move beyond the compromise traditionally imposed by hardshells between weight, breathability and waterproofness.

Featuring two zippered hand pockets and two upper chest pockets with media ports, the Raptor provides ergonomic storage in a streamlined package. The three-panel hood has been engineered to maximize protection without restricting mobility or peripheral vision, and can be worn comfortably underneath most helmets.

Built to excel in both inclement weather and calmer conditions, Polartec® Neoshell® is an engineering breakthrough for waterproof breathable fabric technologies. The fabric’s highly aerobic air permeability functions as a durable, protective shell with advanced wicking capabilities to keep moisture vapor moving away from your core.

Neoshell® Care: To preserve the life of your shell, TAD recommend using spot cleanings with a damp cloth to wipe away dirt and stains. If machine washing is necessary, machine wash cold without the use of bleach or other fabric softeners to avoid interfering with the garment’s water resistance, and use an additional rinse cycle to remove any lingering chemicals that clog the pores of the membrane. Unless the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment needs a replenishment, TAD suggest drip drying.

Love it, but is it hard use?

Posted by Lorenzo on 1st Feb 2018

I have the first iteration of this jacket from when it got released. I've put it through solid days of rain and mud by way of music festivals, urban rain and wind daily use and a little bit of hiking, offgridding style. It keeps rain and wind out without a doubt, it's so waterproof that you gotta take care when you use the large front pockets because what runs down your arm and into the pocket is going to stay there, as my mobile once experienced... ahrem. Washing works, i've done it with one of those detergent & dwr combos and blasted it in the tumbler for a spell just to reactivate it, no notable degradation of WP. It does have an upper limit to how much rain it'll take, second or third of the aforementioned festival days of rain i wore it it started to let some humidity through after 8 hours of standing around, drinking and crowd contact. So, three days of workshift in heavy downpour was the beginning of maxing it out without a hot air reactivation possibility. Breathability is there but not as good as a high end softshell so perspiration happens with this on, especially during hot summer rains. It looks almost as good as it did when i bought it, except that the back of the shoulders shows signs of wear on the inside, dont know if it affects the membrane or not. Its motst definetly a consequence of my backpack or messenger edc. I have not worn it for any gravelcrawling bushwhacking or similar abuse but i do think it'd survive well for a while. The only thing keeping me from giving it a full 5 bling blings is my reluctance to really put it to the test, nobody wants to purposefully mess up a shell at this pricetag unless somebody else pays for it :D (hint hint, sponsor me one and i'll put it through everything i can think of!). Definetly better than your average TNF hardshell that retails at about the same price, both against the elements and regular wear and tear. You get what you pay for indeed, and since it feels just a little brittle in the material for being TAD-gear it's not getting a 5 star. Any other brand would!
