Inspired by markers used in the military for friend or foe identification, the TAD Pharos Marker is a webbing-compatible, glow-in-the-dark marking device. Easily attach the Pharos Marker to pack straps, PALS webbing or any other webbing up to 1 inch wide for easy identification of your gear in the dark.

TAD's custom built glow tube is filled with the most advanced glow-in-the-dark compound available. Optimized for maximum brightness and longevity, this compound will lose only 5% of its ability to glow after 10 years. The 3 mm x 22.5 mm chamber is also compatible with common tritium vials available on the market, which glow continuously for at least 10 years.

Marker glow tubes should be charged via UV light or CFL Daylight bulbs before use. Available in both copper and black aluminium.

    This Is EXCELLENT

This is superb. All TAD is expensive. It is also the best you can get. If you wander into a Bentley showroom, don't moan about the price. These really are the best you can get. EXCELLENT

    Overpriced and ineffective.

Let me be clear: the quality of machining on these marker lights is excellent, as is the quality of the anodising on the black version. Very well made and very well put together. However, this little item is vastly overpriced and is barely effective. 1) Price: again I should be clear here: the huge price for what is a non-tritium marker light is not in any way the fault of Heinnie, rather the item as sold by TAD Gear is horribly expensive for a marker light that's about 3cm in length. 2) It fits well on to MOLLE straps. When I first got one of these I was worried that it might fall off but no, it's a very secure fit and will not get dislodged. 3) The actual glow tube. This is a bog standard plastic tube filled with material that charges in daylight hours and glows as it gets dark. The problem is that the tube itself is tiny - maybe 22mm long by 3mm diameter. The result is that there's actually very little lume inside the tube. After leaving one of these outside in the sun literally all day, it glowed faintly for maybe an hour or two after dark, and after that was more or less invisible. The "10 hour light duration" is pure fantasy unless maybe you're looking at one through 4th generation night vision systems. 4) Do not think for a minute that one of these is in any way usable as some sort of safety marker. If you have one of these on the back of a pack that you use to go running at night or at dusk, don't believe for a minute that this is in any way bright enough for drivers of vehicles to see. 5) In fairness, the actual glow tube is held in with a hex screw and can therefore be fairly easily replaced with a 3mm x 22mm tritium tube, though that will of course further increase the total price. I'd actually recommend doing this because the housing itself is extremely well made and will be very durable, it's just the glow tube that's pointlessly ineffective. All in all I suppose this would work as a marker to find a kit bag in the dark, so long as you're only trying to find your bag an hour or two after it gets dark, but otherwise this is an ineffective waste of money. If you really must have one, when you get it also buy a hex key that will fit and replace the tube with a tritium marker.
