Hoplites were citizen-soldiers of Ancient Greek city-states who were primarily armed with spears and shields. Their main tactic was the phalanx formation. The hoplites were primarily free citizens—propertied farmers and artisans who received basic military training and were able to afford the bronze armour suit and weapons (estimated at a third to a half of its able-bodied adult male population).

Mark Stotesbury is a designer based in South Africa who hand carves his masters into wax before transferring them in resin moulds which then progress into rubber spin cast moulds. His designs are cast in zinc and then electroplated in Antique Copper and Antique Pewter which gives them an aged finish. With a 5mm hole each of these beads will take 550 paracord with a turks head knots inside.

    Big badass bead!

Posted by SigSi on 4th Nov 2018

Looked at one way, a fiver is a lot of money to spend on a single metal bead. But when you see the crazy prices being demanded for some paracord beads, these Stotesbury designs actually look like a bit of a bargain “ I've seen beads similar to these going for upwards of £20 each. These beads are solid, chunky and quite heavy. I like the nice simple lines and lack of fussy detail. They are also large, more like a small pendant than what you might think of as typical bead size, so check the dimensions are right for whatever project you have in mind before ordering, because they're not going to work strung on a single strand of paracord. The top hole is 6mm diameter, and will take three strands of 550 paracord with ease. If you want to fit more cord through, drilling or filing the hole out shouldn't be difficult, the material is a soft zinc alloy. The main hollow space inside the helmet is about 12mm wide, and will fit snugly over the end of a snake knot or crown knot braid. I'm doing a lot of knotwork at the moment, and I'll be getting more of these.

These are lovely little things that give an extra dimension to the lanyard. Worth the money as they are not expensive at all. Hope HH gets more of this guys designs. As always fantastic service from HH.
