A recipe for folding knife success: Start with hard-use rated lock. Add a blade made of exotic high carbon steel. Manufacture it in Golden, Colorado using precise tolerances then add a healthy dash of American innovation. These ingredients are the Manix 2, a concoction of solo features when combined make one of the strongest knives from Spyderco to date.

Patented by Spyderco, the Manix 2 has a Ball Bearing Lock. It’s a hardened free-floating ball bearing contained in a custom hi-tech polymer cage. It allows the lock to self adjust across a large surface, smoothly and consistently locking-up with solid confidence. Evolving over time, the Ball Bearing Lock’s strength withstands hard work with a secure, versatile and comfortable grip. Ergonomics are peerless in this design. The blade is CPM-S30V and Flat-ground with thumb serrations (jimping) above a super sized 14mm Spyderco Round Hole. The Jimping doesn’t stop there. With full steel liners the scales have jimping that extends beyond the G-10 handle scales scalloping areas of the handle’s perimeter. This one is not slipping out of your hand and works well with gloves on!

    Solid as anything!

Posted by Ben on 20th Aug 2015

Another wonder from Spyderco the Manix 2 is a solid knife and I really haven't got a bad thing to say about it. It feels strong and heavy in the hand due to the solid steel liners and the ball-bearing lock is one of the strongest locks I've ever seen. I only wish this knife was UK legal so I could carry it all the time everyday.

I have a few Spyderco Knives, but this one by far has beaten all the others. It's a well made piece of work that stands up to everything I have thrown at it. Again another outstanding service by Heinnie Haynes, thanks guys.

    Excellent Hard Use Blade

Posted by Kestas on 23rd May 2012

If you are wondering if you should buy this knife, then wonder no more and buy it. USA made, 154CM and hard use are just some of the things that persuaded me to buy this knife. The lock on this knife is excellent. The ball bearing lock locks up as solid as some of the Tri Ad Locks from Cold steel. I have no fear of putting this knife to use in Bushcraft (even though I don't really want to because of the price). I can definitely say that this knife is one of the best I own. Excellent service from Heinnie aswell. BUY IT!

I got this version because it was not possible to get the Manix 2 flat grind sprint run, however its a great knife! very sharp indeed! despite the saber edge grind the blade is very thin towards the point which leads me to my only concern! is it strong enough ? i love the knife weight and feel and finger choil + great jimping , only a 4 due to concerns over the point thinness and the lack of a high polished finish on the blade. Next day service impeccable as usual thanks to Nick
