The soul of the Manix2 Lightweight is its flat-ground CTS BD1 stainless steel blade. Its leaf-shaped profile flows seamlessly into the lines of the handle while providing both a forefinger choil and an understated thumb ramp. Both these areas feature strategic jimping (textured grooves) for a secure grip and support a forward grip for increased control during detailed cutting tasks. The blade’s 14mm Trademark Round Hole makes one-handed deployment with either hand swift and positive.

The Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight’s handle is injection moulded from translucent FRCP and includes Spyderco’s distinctive Bi-Directional Texturing pattern to ensure a secure grip in all environmental conditions. The lightweight FRCP handle reduced the overall weight of the knife to a mere 3.0 ounces—42 percent lighter than the G-10 handled Manix2. A reversible wire clip provides convenient left or right-side tip-up carry and an oversized lanyard hole allows the easy attachment of fobs and lanyards.

Linking the blade and handle is Spyderco’s patented Ball Bearing Lock mechanism. This high-strength lock consists of a ball bearing nested within a durable textured polymer “cage.” When the blade is opened, a spring-loaded steel plunger drives the ball bearing forward to wedge between a ramp on the blade and an “anvil” in the handle’s steel insert. Drawing the caged ball bearing to the rear releases the lock and allows the blade to close smoothly while keeping your fingers safely away from the sharp edge. Smooth, strong, and easily operated, like the rest of the knife’s features, the Ball Bearing Lock is also completely ambidextrous.

This knife is great, really lightweight for the size. Possibly the most lightweight knife with a blade of 3.5 inches I own the steel is brilliant I love CTS-BD1 I highly recommend this manix lightweight.

This is a beautiful, well made and incredibly light bit of kit. The movement on opening allows for the 'Spydie-flick' and gravity will bring it closed when the lock is disengaged. The lock is brilliant. The scales take some getting used to, they feel, too light at first but all i was comparing them to is every other folder I own, that was a big mistake! The scales are solid and a great fit against the blade and internals. Mine locks beautifully with almost no movement (impossible to remove all give in a model made like this) Cannot recommend this knife enough!

Spyderco are good with their specs, but if you want double check them for this model go to Spyderco.com. Now, Spyderco quote 85g as the weight, so I could not resist checking the weight on my scales. Low and behold 82g. The lighter the better !

I agree with Chris this is the mutts, does not matter about pinned construction, you can adjust the pivot. The Manix is my favourite. Thanks again for a superb service Heinnie

I was a little doubtful about the steel and the frcp handle, but they are really very good. Smooth action and rock solid lock-up make this a big hitter at good price. The pinch-n-slide and pull against the heel of the hand necessary to open the lock one handed is perhaps a *little* awkward at first but don't let that put you off. Another great Spyderco.

Great light knife

The blade is beautiful. It's not a stonewash but has a slightly cloudy polished finish. If you have this steel on a FRN UKPK you will know what I mean. Knife is light and fits great in the hand. The FRCP feels plasticky compared to FRN and has a bit of flex in it. It's lighter though. Not sure about the ball bearing lock, looks good for attracting pocket fluff. Pinned construction is a shame, if the spring goes on that lock it's not user serviceable. Overall happy. Sal torx construction on the next upgrade please! :)
