Compact, comfortable, and feature-rich, the PowerPlay brings many often-used tool components into a small, pocketable multi-tool. Equipped with pliers powered by Compound Leverage, the jaws of the PowerPlay has double the grasping power for increased grip and reduced slippage.

The PowerPlay also features a straight edge and a fully serrated blade that can be accessed without opening the tool. This design gives easy access to the frequently used blades for cutting and slicing. When the tool is closed, the top has a centered hex bit driver which is convenient and comfortable to use while minimizing chances of stripped screw heads. Each handle is home to different useful tools like screwdrivers, can/bottle opener, saw, awl, file, and more: a total of 18 tool components.

SOG's proprietary Compound Leverage technology works by employing multiple pivot points that generate greater handle travel in relation to plier movement. The result is a leverage advantage of approximately twice the power of a conventional multi-tool, which makes every cut smoother and easier.

This version is supplied in a nylon sheath with a range of hex bits.

    Going down...

Posted by John on 20th Dec 2017

A year of use after my last review, I'll add this:

The case is splitting gain (the velcro is giving up the ghost and coming away from the sheath) and the tol has a couple of flaws that become apparent after much use.

When using the external tools like the blades, the cog wheels (which - unlike some SOGs I own)have no 'gurads' protecting the teeth and they dig into the palm of your hand something ghastly.

Also, the lock releases are so stiff that they hurt your thumbs. It's easier just to pull out another tool half way and then shut them both at the same time.

This is an unfinished tool, which is a real shame. If you want a better tool, buy a Wave. If you want a cheaper tool that's as good, buy one of the top end Ganzo's or similar

    a couple of flaws

Posted by John on 17th Jul 2016

Good tools, useful (external) blades and a good selection of tools. The only one missing is a pair of scissors. With those it would have been close to perfect, especially for the price. Comfortable to hold and no plate covering the tools like some of my other SOGs.

Downsides and the reason it loses a star.

    1) The bit drivers have only phillips not pozidrive

    2) The 1/4 drive has no solid connector for the jaws to lock on to. I assume you have to use one of the screwdriver bits, though the instructions don't make that clear.

    3) I've had it 48 hours and the shoddy case has already started to come apart.

I had to send my last SOG back to Heinnie when it fell apart. I see they still haven't addressed their product quality control...

    Better than a Wave.

Robust, easy to use with all the right tools. Blades come razor sharp and are easy to retouch.
    Basically whats not to like?
