The SOG FastHawk is faster,
lighter, more agile, and easier to
carry than its sibling the
Tactical Tomahawk. This is not to
say it is not still powerful,
versatile, and functional. It is a
tool that will be used for much
more than you might anticipate.
Chopping, breaking, cutting,
hammering, piercing, digging,
prying, pounding shaving,
notching and opening are
all capabilities well within the
FastHawks reach.

The 420 stainless steel head with
a Hardcased black coating is
mounted to the ballistic polymer
handle with heavy-duty bolts and a
steel ferrule to insure the
strongest integrity. Side hammer
checkering insures precision
placement when swinging. Carried
in a nylon sheath that can be
mounted to belt, backpack, or
gear. It is a universal tool for
modern man.

    Excellent

Posted by Jez on 20th Dec 2019

I can find no fault with this item, it is well made and feels good in the hand, it is delicate enough to do some whittling or make some kindling for a fire, but strong enough to chop effectively, very light to carry. Hennies are the best, I have been a customer for years and they are second to none, Richard the manager gives a superb personal service.

    Portable bushcraft axe

Posted by Welshwnder on 29th Jan 2017

So I wanted something for when a fixed blade is not quiet enough. I have had the fast hawke for some time and used it extensively. It has held up to all the tasks with no real signs of wear. It's small it's light and easy to carry. As other reviews have said you won't fell trees but for processing wood for fires it's a good tool. Top class service from Heinnie as usual.

    VERY GOOD!!

    Posted by GRANT.E on 16th Dec 2016

NOT HAD A CHANCE TO PUT TO PROPER USE YET SO ILL LET YOU KNOW ON THAT ONE. SPEEDY DELIVERY AS USUAL..MANY THANX, GOT THIS MAINLY FOR WORK AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE QUITE A FEW SMALL TO LARGE AXES IVE ALWAYS FANCIED TRYING A TOMAHAWK ON THE SMALLER TASKS. FEELS SOLID ,CAME FAIRLY SHARP BUT BETTER NOW, HANDLE I THOUGHT WAS A BIT SLIM AND I NOTICED A FEW PEOPLE HAVE WRAPPED IT IN BIKE TAPE, ILL BE WEARING GLOVES ANY WAY WHICH WILL PROBABLY SORT THAT. ALTHOUGH IT ISNT 420 HC I DID THINK IT FELT QUITE HARD, I ENDED UP USING FALKNIVENS DC4 WHICH IS A NICE SIZE AND THOUGHT IT WORKED VERY WELL. DONT LIKE THE SHEATH, PRESS STUD VERY WEAK AND WITH A LANYARD ON THE AXE IS VERY FIDDLY PUTTING AWAY. ALL IN ALL HAPPY NOW AND CANT WAIT TO USE IT.

Unique kit that does the job

Posted by AndyNight on 16th Nov 2015

After using many hawks and hatchets I purchased the Fasthawk on a whim in the quest for a bushcraft axe that was as lightweight as possible whilst maintaining the functionality you need in the field from an axe. Let's be straight - this axe is not built for felling giant redwoods but if you're considering the product you know that. For me it's a lightweight hatchet that I use primarily for processing wood and doing those jobs that are just a little tough for your knife alone. In these respects it's great - light, versatile, easy to wield and a pleasure to carry. Of note is the finger hole just behind the blade - whether by accident or design this is a feature that makes the Fasthwak a force multiplier in terms of providing a firm grip for planing, feather sticking or any other detail work - you won't get that level of control on a typical hatchet. The point on the reverse of the head is also very useful for all manner of splitting, smashing and spiking tasks. The centre of the head is also cross hatched for hammering and it does a decent job if somewhat less beefy than the poll on a normal hatchet. The nylon sheath is decent for everyday carry but I immediately upgraded to the SOG kydex sheath which is absolutely fantastic. Amongst my circle of bushcraft friends I immediately felt the brunt of the 'Call of Duty' tactical tomahawk references until they watched me working with the tool and appreciated my thinking behind carrying it - it's a very versatile piece of kit with a carry weight that can't be beat. My one gripe is that the steel is a little soft - easy to sharpen, easy to lose it's edge but hey, this is an axe, not a shaving sharp £450 custom bushcraft knife. Well worth a punt and I look forward to seeing more people using them and making the Gransfors fanboys eat their hats.

    fantastic service

Posted by Jeff on 4th Sep 2012

I asked about this tool before Heinnie stocked it, within no time at all they had hunted them down and shipped them to me. Fantastic tool and the best service from Heinnie. Good to see that they are now in stock for everyone to enjoy.

    V useful.

Posted by M Gourley on 23rd Aug 2012

Love this tool. A nice alternative to a bill hook - Small, fast and lightweight, well balanced and very sharp. It's great for snedding (de-limbing) smaller trees/brushwood, hedge-laying, clearing ivy from tree trunks, cleaning small game, but the more you use it, the more applications you will find. Never had an issue with the sheath. Ergonomic design - finger notch behind axe head in particular. Lanyard hole a plus. Can be worn on belt with ease.
