The Schrade F56 Frontier will make an excellent outdoors knife.


The micarta handle is highly resilient to harsh and wet weather conditions and provides a great grip. As part of the whole package the knife is supplied with a tough kydex belt sheath and a fire starter attached.


This is a such a tough knife whose full tang design gives it an inherent strength. It is also generously sized so will perform just as well for those with a larger hand size.

    Good blade, poor handle quality

    I received my knife today in what can only described as a lightning delivery from Heinnie Haynes. Very impressed with their service. The blade came very sharp and goes through paper nicely. It has a good shape and feel to it and sits well in my hand. I can't really comment on the blade reliability and edge retention qualities yet, since i just received it. What I can comment on is the very poorly assembled handle. The material is very rough around the edges, but more importantly it didn't seem tightly attached. Of course i removed the 2 hex bold pairs (2 male on one side, 2 female on the other) and attempted to reseat the sides of the handle. And it became apparent that it was hastily bolted together at the assembly line and the holes on the blade didn't exactly match the holes on the micarta handle sides. You can fasten one pair of bolts and the other won't latch on. After 30 mins of gentle grinding on the handles to make it fit i came to realise what poor quality the hex bolts are. Long story short, i gave up and superglue'd the handles on with 1 pair of bolts tightly fastened and it's all good. Bit of sanding on the rough edges and it's ready to be put to use. For its price it's a good looking blade. Pity the assembly doesn't match the blade's quality. If this was a more expensive knife i'd be returning it.

    Good Camping knife

    The virtue of this knife is good materials combined with a very reasonable price. Came paper cutting sharp out of the box. Used it to cut down a 2in. branch of a laburnum tree and other gardening tasks, split kindling and divide-up several large cardboard boxes. It will be perfect for bush craft/camping in a few weeks time. Not a collectors grade knife of beauty, but a strong, practical knife with a good handle that will hold a decent edge. As always HH's service was top notch. This has been said so many times, I'm almost embarrassed to mention it, but one has to tell it like it is. Mike O'D

    Good Solid Knife

    Very VERY impressed with this knife. Very sharp out of the box. The handle is exceedingly comfortable, which is the one this that I was concerned about when I ordered it. I did however smooth off the very slightly sharp edges of the scales with some light sand paper. This knife has a comfortable and very reassuring weight to it, which instills confidence that it will handle some very tough use. There was only one very slight disappointment: I think it is a shame that Shrade didn't think to put a wider belt loop on the sheath so that it could be fixed at both sides - however a length of paracord tied through the sheath and the belt-loop holes on the opposite side has stopped any movement through flexing. All in all I am very happy with the F56. Heinnie Haynes have lived up to their reputation for service; I ordered the knife at midday on standard shipping and it arrived the very next morning. Ok, so I don't live a very long way from them in Barry, S.Wales but I wasn't expecting the delivery to be quite that quick. Thank You
