The Schrade Extreme Survival F5 (SCHF5N) is a skeletonised fixed blade neck knife. It’s designed to be minimalistic and lightweight but retain enough strength so that it’s still a useful survival knife.

The blade comes either plain or part-serrated, the choice is yours. Either way you get a great blade (1095 carbon steel) which will hold it’s edge really well. The skeletonised handle is a good size for the average hand and contains plenty of jimping for grip. The handle also boasts a useful bottle opener as well as a good-sized lanyard hole.

In order to carry this knife as a neck knife, you are supplied with a very secure Kydex sheath. This fits the blade perfectly (you can hear it click into place) and it includes a black ball chain. If you’d rather carry the knife on your belt, that’s no problem, as the Kydex sheath also has a pocket clip attached!

    Dump the Sheath Clip

Posted by Hullblazer on 1st Dec 2017

Just been handed one of these and overall I am very impressed! Light, strong and big enough to be a 3 finger knife for my meat-hooks, it could've been sharper out of the box (but that's why I bought the Lansky system).

One star dropped for the appalling clip on the sheath. Clipped to belt, sat down, spare-jeans material popper the sheath off my belt.

    Great, lightweight neck-carry though!

    Go for it!

Posted by Goose on 24th Oct 2016

Amazing knife for the money. Small (for a fixed blade) but really useful. The blade is really easy to sharpen, but needs a higher level of care, for it rusts (if it's badly cleaned), and, if used incorrectly it loses its edge quite easily. But don't let this review keep you from buying it, because if you love this knife, it will love you back. It's also a good backup knife.
The scabbard does his job, can't complain.
For some extra grip, I would recommend a paracord handle
I bought this knife in 2014

    Good slicer / carver

Posted by Clive from Windsor on 15th Sep 2016

Flat grind & a useful length make this a very good neck knife tool. Comes fairly sharp but some work on ceramic stones gets it very sharp. Seems to hold its edge as you'd hope with 1095 steel. Sharpening at a 15º angle on either side of this blade (30º total) will give you an excellent slicer. As mentioned by other reviewers, it can be wrapped with paracord but I found it more than adequate in the hand without.

Sheath adequate - seems to do the job OK. Clip on sheath unhelpful & recommend immediate removal. Ball chain & lanyard fairly poor - better with something beefier like paracord or leather. These are small details. Basic package is good. 1095 is a wonderful knife material. No wonder TOPS use it so frequently in their knives. Super fast delivery from HH.

A Great Neck Knife backed up by the Legendary Heinnie Haynes Service

Posted by Norseman on 11th Jun 2016

BUY ONE..........The SCHF5N in 1095 carbon steel form makes for an excellent neck knife. My blade did not come as sharp as i like it straight out of the box but, being 1095 steel this was easily rectified with a Fallkniven diamond stone and a Rite Edge strop also available from Heinnie Haynes. At the price HH are selling these they are a real bargain. I really think these are a must carry in the field and providing you keep the blade oiled these should last a lifetime. All backed up by the legendary Heinnie Haynes service, ordered day one PM arrived day two am, a simply astonishing service by the HH Team time after time.

One of the best knives for the money I have ever came across!

Posted by Luke on 24th Sep 2015

I cannot explain the quality of this knife! I have had, many knives, and I mean many, this has topped many knives that I have payed more than double for. It comes wickedly sharp, it can shave the hairs of ya arm with no trouble, I have carved with it and found it makes quick work of it! the skeletonised handle isn't the most comfortable, but wrapped with para cord it becomes great! Little tip when wrapping wrap it with duck tape round the blade, as it is possible you can yank it out its sheath and cut ya hand open, I have learnt the Hardway

    great

Posted by ThatGuy on 4th Sep 2015

first of all great shipping time from HH arrived in less than 24hrs
And the knife itself is sturdy and will fare me well overtime , it does come with a rubbish lanyard and it doesn't say extreme survival on the blade. But overall very pointy and a usable Edge out the box . I'll buy another when this one wears out.

    Not exactly as shown.

Posted by James Bruce on 12th Mar 2015

Received my knife today and was dissapointed to find the blade not marked "Schrade Extreme Survival" as shown on website. Marked with just "Schrade". Knife also has to be forced firmly into sheath to prevent it rattling about. All other asspects of the knife pretty good considering it's price.
