Rough Ryder knives were already a little bit special but now they have been elevated to legendary status thanks to the Rough Ryder Reserve line. The quality has gone up a significant notch. The D2 steel blade and precision manufacture would ordinarily mean a high end price tag but with Rough Rider Reserve you get a high end product with a not so high end price.

The Rough Ryder Reserve Swell Center Whittler features three D2 tool steel blades all with a brushed satin finish, deep swedging, half stops and match strike pulls. The spear point main blade is 8cm with a 6.9cm cutting edge, and there are smaller secondary pen and coping blades. The handles are black canvas Micarta with brushed stainless steel bolsters, brass liners, and nickel silver pins and the Triple-R Arrowhead shield. This classic whittler pattern is 11.5 closed, 19.4cm with the main blade open, and weighs 130g. Comes packed in a collectible Rough Ryder Reserve Tube Tin and includes a Rough Ryder microfiber cleaning cloth.

Without doubt the best by far but and it makes me sad the most uncomfortable knife I've ever used, it's too well machined and sharp corners, still an stunning knife.

A Step Up for Rough Ryder

This really is a nicely executed, premium version of a classic knife. About as big as it gets for UK legal carry, the main blade really is substantial, without (in my opinion, at least) looking at all aggressive... there’s a tiny bit of lateral play on the smaller blades (not much), but the main blade’s absolutely solid, with an almost perfectly centred grind. For the money, it’s a steal- buy one..!

I’ll start off with I don’t think I’d have paid this much for this knife if I’d have realised it was made in China. Having received it , I can honestly say I’m well chuffed & glad I did. The quality of the knife is amazing, absolutely first class I kid you not. It’s early days as I’ve only had it for a week so time will tell how stands up to life & how it sharpens. Again we’ll impressed & I have a couple of nice knifes, a limited edition Böker, a Laguiole (Layole) & a nice Damascus IC Cut. This is certainly not an embarrassment. Stuart aka Restmengi.
