The Rough Rider Sowbelly Black Cherry is such a smart knife. The Sowbelly is a traditionally styled penknife with three blades; clip point, spey and sheepsfoot so has functionality in abundance but its standout feature is the "black cherry" smooth bone handle scales. Combine that intoxicating colour with the nickel silver bolsters and brass liners and you have an item with a high aesthetic appeal. The quality, too, is outstanding particularly considering the price. Oh and it's a UK legal carry knife due to its non-locking blades all being under three inches long.

Rough Rider Sowbelly Black Cherry

I do not normally spend £17 on a penknife but now that I have received it, I am delighted by its design and engineering. It should easily last a lifetime providing I do not lose it. Its most common task might be to remove the dirt from underneath my fingernails. I normally buy cheap and regret it but this was worth every penny.

Brilliant knife

Fit and finish top notch as usual. I like the handle material and it looks great too. The 3 blades are really good. I use the sheepfoot for opening bales of hay, haylage, and straw which it excels at along with rougher jobs even once I've taken the edge off a bit. I keep the long clip blade for general cutting of string or plastic or anything like that, and I have a spare blade just in case. Rough rider steel takes a good sharp edge, and the best thing about it is how easy and quick it is to resharpen even if it's gone really blunt. My knife gets plenty of use on the farm and needs sharpening regularly. I've had lots of knives, some more expensive, and they never keep an edge longer and always take more sharpening. This is a great work knife. The only downside for me is the lack of locking but this isn't really possible with this style and the pros far outweigh this for me.

Superb knife

Received mine today haven't used it yet but initially very very pleased even the box it came in is worth a mention. This is a very nice knife f&f rivals anything case have produced and the black cherry scales are gorgeous it has a good walk and talk and shaving sharp out of the box . I have recently brought a few rough riders to add to my collection and f&f has been normal rough rider standard , but this one is near on perfect , I am very pleased with this knife and if you like the sowbelly pattern just buy one

Attractive pocket knife, the Black Cherry Bone is a lovely colour. Fit/finish a bit ragged in places, but nothing to affect the usability of the knife. Superb value and the usual excellent HH service.
