    RR grey bone skinner

    Posted by 243 on 26th Dec 2021

I received the new Pakkawood skinner as a gift, yesterday & it had several issues so I thought I'd have a check on my collection & see if there were any problems. My knives are kept in a secure drawer cabinet in the spare room, adjacent to an inside wall. I checked the 1075/1095/Damascus knives first. All were OK apart from a very small rust mark on a Damascus bolster. I next checked my other 3 RR fixed blades, which is where This One comes in. I don't store knives in sheaths as leather can do some strange things to brass & steel so I was surprised to find that this skinner had rust patches all over the spine & ricasso & the bone handle had faded on one side but had got Very dark grey patches on the other. I believe these knives are now made in Pakistan - probably by the supplier of the blank blades on this site. I've purchased more than 30 of these blanks over the past 5 years & have had no problems with rust even after I've dipped them in acid & left several on the bench in my shed for the past 2 years - a cold, damp place in Winter: so I don't understand what's going on with these 2 RR skinners - maybe RR should go back solely with Chinese suppliers I've not had any major issues with the 40+ folding knives I've bought from this site over the past 5 or more years. Happy new year to all knife enthusiasts!

Quite simply a stunning piece of craftmanship. Beautiful to look at and to hold . Solid little skinner that dose the job.

Excellent value for a great general use knife

Posted by PhilR on 11th Sep 2020

Ordered late Wednesday and arrive this morning - the usual first class service from Heinnie! The knife is a good size and weight - comfortable to hold too. Sharp out of the box and you would not get better for your money - or even many more times this price. The finish is very good and the knife definitely looks stroking. Sheath is thick leather and well made - holds the knife well but easy to get it out when needed. Belt strap on back means the knife can be worn close especially out in the field. Very, very happy!

    Great knife, well pleased!

Just dressed and skinned a muntjac deer using this knife: handled exceptionally well, needed a few strokes of a sharpening steel during the process, but took an effective edge readily. Overall a really comfortable skinner and great value, a pleasure to use, would recommend partnering with a steel if using in the field.

    Geat value

I didn't really expect much from this knife at such a low price. The steel is basic but does the job. However, this is a lovely item that would make a nice gift. The bone handle is well finished, heavy & sits well in the hand. Each scale is in 3 parts with 2 plastic spacers between. I think the bolster is actually Brass. The leather sheath is very nice & I have found it easy to decorate with stamping tools. The knife is made in Pakistan, not China, which surprised me. If you'd like to make a knife like this HH sell a blade blank almost identical to this, part no.SO-BL093, for £12.95, I got this at the same & it will be part of my learning process. This skinner & sheath is worth every penny - & then some! I ordered this @ 12.30 Friday & it arrived 10 .00 am Saturday. Great service from both HH AND Royal Mail!
