    Lovely knife, great value

Posted by Leee on 21st Aug 2018

Great service as usual from HH.
I was reading about Case Trapper knives so came on HH to have a look, and came across these Rough Rider knives which seemed to get good reviews despite being very modestly priced. So I ordered this one.
It is a really nice looking knife, the dark reddish brown scales and brass coloured bolsters look superb, its a lovely knife to look at.
The quality is really good, the knife feels really solid, the slip joints as really strong and the blades snap into place. It feels really comfortable in the hand and both blades were pretty sharp.
I have a number of different UK legal pocket folders, I see this one becoming a favourite, it really is a nice knife and great quality, and I would say that even if I'd pay double or treble for it, but at this price you simply can't go wrong.
This is the first Rough Rider knife I've bought but I will definitely be buying others, thoroughly recommend it.

    Almost too good to use.

I've been after a two bladed traditional 'penknife' for a while and was drawn to Rough Rider by the price and after reading the many positive reviews.
I was very impressed as soon as I took it out of the box. The weight is nice and in accordance with it's quality and build. Fit and finish is better than I expected. The blades are centered when the knife is closed with no blade rub against the liners and there is absolutely no blade wobble from either blade when the knife is open. There are no gaps between the springs and the liners and everything is smooth and flush as it should be.
I was expecting the bolsters to be nickel silver but they are highly polished brass. This is not a problem for me however. The spey blade has a darkened or blued finish to it which I wasn't aware of when looking at the photos. I can see it now but thought this was just shadow. Again, this is not a problem for me as it just adds interest to the knife. The scales are very dark red (almost brown).
I would urge anyone considering buying a Rough Rider knife not to be put off by the fact that they are made in China. These knives are real quality and at a very competitive price. My knife is an absolute gem.
This is my first Rough Rider knife but with this build quality, sheer good looks and amazing price, I doubt if it will be my last.

    Great quality

Just received this knife after ordering late on Thursday night great service as usual. This is my third RR old style pocket knife and the build quality is better than my knives costing five times more,,it has a really strong back spring so will not close easily while it's being used.

    Wow

Lovely, good looking EDC knife. Arrived within two days of ordering (thank you Heinnie) and very sharp straight out of the box. Smooth opening with a firm latch into the fully open position. Nice strong back spring and no sloppy play on the blades.
I purchased this knife to replace the non-legal lock knife that I carried around for use in my job. But now I am retired so I thought a more genteel pocket knife would be a good move. The ceramic blade for cutting fruit etc and the other for every day use. Ceramic knives can be harder to sharpen but can be on a diamond whetsone.
All in all a good sturdy pocket knife that has a good weight, is large enough, but doesn't take up to much room in the back pocket. Yes I would buy another and would recommend to friends.
