Well finished absolute bargain but blade center is well off?

Lovely knife but its let down by its quality somewhat.

Posted by Ross on 15th Apr 2016

I bought this knife a few years ago in midnight swirl but had to return it due to a misaligned blade. I swapped it for the jigged bone version.
This one was still a little off centre but much better than the last. on this one however, the scales were not quite flush with the liners and there was a tiny amount of play in the blade/pivot. Annoying but I figured it was a cheap knife so I would just have to live with it .
I rarely use the knife as i bought it as a special occasion knife when anything bulkier would look silly in dress trousers or a suit, it has probably been used 4-5 times during the time I've owned it. but after opening some birthday cards I found the action really gritty feeling and it has lost at least 50% of its springy snap when opening and folding the blade. It feels much less secure which is really disappointing even though it only gets very light use.

On the plus side, it looks amazing and the steel is sharp, takes an edge well, and is easy to maintain.
Not sure if I would buy another and i don't think I would recommend rough rider as they seem to deteriorate rather quickly. I mean, a gritty, weak spring is frustrating and takes away confidence in the knife.

    Nice Little Knife, Excellent Value

    Posted by G on 19th Jun 2015

This is my first toothpick and certainly won't be my last. I have become a big fan of this knife pattern.

For under 7 quid this is amazing value. The blade came very sharp out of the box. The shape lends itself well to piercing and the like.

The plastic handle scales look beautiful and if you've seen any images of the real Painted Desert, Rough Rider have done a really good job of evoking the colours of the natural beauty of said desert.

Fit and finish are pretty excellent for the price. Everything is flush and sits well with each other. The knife is only let down by a way off center blade which, in my case, is touching the liner when closed.

Overall though I really like the knife and will definitely be expanding the toothpick section of my knife collection. Excellent value, this one.

    Love this EDC.

Beautiful handle with a lightweight finish and shaving sharp blade. Would buy again. Only thing that gives away this knifes price is that it's off-center when closed but no blade play and good mechanism. Very comfortable, and very shine.

Worth every penny, and nothing less.
