The collaboration between Real Steel and Poltergeist Works has given us the versatile Real Steel Terra Carbon Fibre, which for the first time features a convertible wire clip (Tip-up, left or right-carry).

In combination with the thumb hole of the blade, this ensures absolute suitability for the left hand. Details such as the rounded back of the blade or the characteristic screw connection with two large hollow screws make for the special charm.

    Great knife, great value,great service.

Posted by Joseph on 5th Nov 2019

THIS KNIFE IS A GEM,A RERE ONE TOO ! especially since its brand new out from poltergeist works and real steal,HH is also one of very few companies that stocks it,the only one in Europe that I've found. I was instantly interested in this knife when I first saw it come in to HH , but that was the olive drab G10. I pulled up the specs and was quietly impressed. I thought the olive green g10 scales looked gorgeous but I'm just not the biggest fan of DLC coatings aesthetically, just a little too tacticool for me. If the finish would have been black washed, acidwashed or bead blasted subtly I wouldn't have thought twice. Ofcourse you can remove DLC coatings with some heavy duty paint remover and minimal effort, and then apply whatever finish you like if you have the knowhow...which was my initial plan. BUT THEN THE CARBON FIBRE VERSION DROPPED WITH SATIN FINISH BLADE!!! And I was done, stick a fork in me done! I did some research and found that not only is the sandvic 14C28N blade steel extremely corrosion resistant and easy to sharpen but also has really good edge retention, comparable to D2 tool steel and potentially better if the heat treat has been done well!! THE BLADE. SANDVIC 14C28N. FULL FLAT GRIND. It's nice and thin behind the edge meaning it sails through material ,paper, fruit or pretty much anything with ease. The wide blade means you have plenty of cutting capabilities . There is a good amount of flat to the blade before it sweeps into a long gradual belly and comes to a punishing ,somehow thin but stout point ,so it also offers some really good penetration, tongue firmly in cheek. THE CONSTRUCTION. being made of milled out steel liners with carbon fibre scales the handle feels strong and durable whilst being seriously light ,for a knife as large as this theres almost no weight. The blade sits on phosphor bronze and teflon washers simultaneously ,making the action really smooth. you can flick it open without using the wrist and drop shut it with a little effort , the opening hole means there's nothing in the way of the slicing path of the blade. The pivot and base screws along with the locating pins and back spacer are quite sturdy and attractive. Both the pivot and rear fixing screw can be opened with a flat head(or anything that fits) or an Allen key meaning it's really easy to maintain. The fit and finish is very good,no gaps, everything is aligned properly and symmetrical, and the wire pocket clip doesnt create any hotspot weather it's in the left of right hand configuration. The lock up is around 40%-50% with zero blade play in any direction. Ergonomically It does well too, the handle fills the hand with the finger cut outs and thumb ramp that has jimping providing adequate grip and choking up in the blade isn't a problem either, the spine of the blade is contoured so there arent any sharp spots which is a nice touch. Finally the blade centering is right on the money and cant be faulted, speaking of money I think it's really good value Decent steel, carbon fibre,3.5 inch blade, bronze washers and great fit and finish. And great delivery time and service from HH Conclusions This works fantastically as an EDC ,its big enough and sturdy enough to get most jobs done. It's safe and really really pretty so the pocket jewellery factor is definitely there. As a fidget toy its allot of fun flicking it open and dropping it closed. Being pretty carbon fibre though, whilst you can beat on it and work with it without any problems ,you may be better off getting the G10 versions because they just look better when they get worn and battered, HEY THATS AN EXCUSE TO GET TWO!! The only things I wasn't completely sold on (and these are really nit-picks) are that I think the finger cut outs should be a little larger and spread out a little more but they work just fine as they are. I really like the look of the opening hole it fits soo well with the knife aesthetically but I think a small flipper that's hidden when the knife is deployed would make it more versatile, easier to open in a situations where you really need the knife and with the outstanding action of the knife a flipper would make it soo compelling boosting the fidget factor by a million. My last and purely personal nit-pic is the pivot/backstrap screws arent symmetrical . What I mean is one side looks suited to a flat tool and the other an Allen key ,I know why they did it like this (to make maintenance easy and versatile) but all the screws could have been Allen key with a slit machined out so that you can use a flat tool or screwdriver or an Allen key so as opposed to 2 of each (allen key&flat head)they could be 4 of the same. Really just nit-picks that have absolutely no bearing on how great this knife is .
