The Real Steel Luna Premium Carbon Fibre joins the list of another number of Poltergeist Works collaborations that Real Steel have under their belt. However, this knife is something very very different. The Luna is their first slip joint with Jakub and in this exquisite, premium version features a carbon fibre handle with bronzed embellishments and back spine and a S35VN stainless blade.

They designed this knife with EDC in mind. Literally as light as a feather and beyond scalpel sharp, the Luna takes on the traditional conceptions of old dusty, lost in time slip joint designs and takes them to a new level. Jakubs keen eye for everything functional is apparent in the Luna. The extreme lightness of this knife also makes it a wonder for pocket carry. This is coupled with the awesomely designed deep carry pocket clip that can fit smoothly into the pocket, making it a perfect candidate for EDC carry or general knife rotation.

The blade is non-locking and under three inches long making it legal to carry in the UK at the owners discretion.

    Disappointed

Posted by Jimmy on 22nd Aug 2020

I have exactly the same thing as other reviewers. The copper finish has completely gone with very minimal use. There is also quite a bit of blade-play which was disappointing considering the price. I was waiting for a long time for the titanium Luna to be back in stock and was instead thrilled to see a premium version pop up. I do not think I will be adding any other Real Steel items to my collection. It is a very light knife and performs exceptionally as a slicer. The novel blade-stop is also a nice touch. However, any Spyderco model over £100 will easily outdo this as an EDC. Great service from HH (this is why I will wait for items to be available at HH rather than shopping else where- thanks).

Lovely knife, let down by the finish.

Posted by Rob on 20th Aug 2020

This is a great knife, but the lovely bronze colour on the clip, fixings and spacer has all rubbed off after really minimal use so it's now a stainless steel colour. It's still a great, light comfortable and capable knife, but when you pay extra for a version with a finish that pops seeing that finish vanish with, quite literally, a quick buff to remove fingerprints with the included cleaning cloth as not ideal. Looking at other reviews maybe I've just got a poor unit, and I still love how it feels in hand and is barely noticeable as a carry. But based on my experience I won't be rushing to spend any more money on Real Steel. [HH says "drop us a line, Rob and we'll take a look"]

    A really lovely knife.

Posted by Ruukuu on 8th Jul 2020

I've had to write a couple bad reviews on knives recently. I'm so happy to say with this one its the opposite. This is a lovely little knife. It looks stunning. Its sharp, well made. Centering is spot on. Its very lightweight and there is no blade play. Very glad i bought this one and happy to give a good review. As normal, Heinnie service and speed was 100% perfect. Ruukuu

    Very classy EDC

Posted by Stu Wats on 11th Jun 2020

This knife wouldn’t look out of place on the flight deck of a luxury yacht...or in the glove box of a Maclaren (do they have glove boxes?). The bronzing is more like a rose gold plating which sets off the machined carbon fibre very well. Think of a rose gold Rolex wristwatch. The uber engineered S35vn steel is satisfyingly upper end, the whole package light and tactile. Sold as an EDC this will be my HDBHC (high days and bank holiday carry) much too nice to risk loosing or damaging. In fact this is such a nice knife I have bought the HH G10 version for everyday carry duties.

    Stunning Legal EDC

Posted by Vice on 18th May 2020

First thing you'll notice is the quality packaging, the box has a brushed steel look to it with a textured finish. Next thing was a 3 digit code on the box (019) which was a pleasant surprise as I didn't realise they numbered their knives. Upon opening the box there is a certificate of authenticity with all the details which is a nice touch and the unit itself wrapped in a micro fibre cloth. Overall impressed with the packaging and presentation. The knife itself is just stunning, classy AF. The thing that really struck me was just how light it is due to the CF and milled spine, you could keep this in a top pocket and forget it was there. The clip (tip up only) is super deep carry and simple/skinny with no branding which means it looks like a pen. The bronze really pops against the dark carbon, which has chamfered edges so no sharp corners digging into your hands. The slip and opening mechanism is smooth running on phosphor bronze washers, but has a positive reassuring click and strong(ish) resistance. The clever bit though is the enhanced half stop that kicks in at about 130° rather than the usual 90° which means you can safely and easily close it with one hand knowing it won't catch any fat fingers.. Opening is the usual two handed affair and requires use of the nail nick which is easy to grip and use. The blade is CPM S35VN which should hold an edge well and has come razor sharp from the factory with a clean edge. Highly impressed with this knife at this price point. Heinnie as usual spot on with delivery even with me currently being in a different country.
