QSP stands for Quality, Service, Price. These three watch words sum up what QSP are all about, finding the best value way to make the best quality knives possible to provide the user with years of service.

The QSP Platypus is a solid knife with masses of personality. The reverse tanto upswept blade gives a wide very functional edge and locks into place with a very solid linerlock mechanism. The handle is coyote G10 with a black G10 insert and an attractive blue anodised aluminium back spine. The pivot uses ball bearings to create an incredibly smooth opening via the ambidextrous thumb studs. Great quality...great price!

    QSP scimitar

Posted by Sarah on 27th Aug 2022

This knife is beautiful to work with. It doesn't matter if you are cutting branches or steaks, this knife cuts! Right out of the box, it works really well in your hand, no matter what you are slicing this blade will go through it. With a12C28N steel blade in your hand there is no way you are are going to be defeated in any task you want to accomplish. I’ve used this knife out in the woods and it has acquitted itself perfectly every time. For the price this knife is amazing, if you want a comparison then look at the Fox Knive’s Pelican. It is the most comparable knife out there albeit with a slightly lesser grade of steel.

    Great heavy duty budget knife.

My 2nd QSP and it's another winner. Fit, finish and materials are excellent, especially for the money. The pseudo scimitar blade is all belly and that, combined with the weight and the well thought through sabre grind make for a powerful and efficient slicer. The tip is strong yet sharp and the blade is thinner behind the edge than you may expect but still strong enough. Ergonomics are great, it's a comfortable knife to use, even in hard use and the scales provide plenty of grip & a good palm swell to fill my chubby, medium sized hands. The ceramic baring action is great, although it did improve after I lubricated it, becoming more or less fall shutty & slick. It came more or less un-lubricated but ran fine if you need to run your knife dry, as you may with a heavy duty knife. The detent is stiff out of the box, especially opening it left handed, due to shape of the scale & liner but will improve with use, although I would like them to have added a detent ramp to make closing even easier. Another Commenter here complained about lock stick issues but I have to say I did not experience lock stick at all. On my knife at least the lock is slick and easily manipulated, even left handed. Aesthetically It's a good looking knife and a conversation piece, at least amongst people who don't just see any & every knife as a weapon no matter what it is. Make no mistake, this is an overbuilt knife, so it's relatively big & heavy but if you need a heavy duty knife on a budget you could do a lot worse.

    What a shame....

A good folder with decent steel on a budget. Sadly let down by varying degrees of lock stick.
