    Worth the money

Not great but More than just OK

Posted by Roland on 24th May 2020

440C is not the most fancy steel out there and the flipping action seems to be a little stiff to me. After releasing the liner lock the blade does not swing freely but has to be pushed back into the handle. Therefore, it is not really made for fidgeting. But OK, we are talking about a knife for £17.95. The blade is fairly sharp and the flipping action gets better with every time. If this is not enough for you, you perhaps should consider taking another knife.

    Brilliant value

Received this knife today, due to heinnie Haynes superb service . So I've not really had the chance to really test it but it's a stunning looking knife for the money. Excellent handle I chose the blue scales. Fits my hand perfectly. The blade is centered, similar to a ultra large victorinox in style.. 440c may be dated compared to some of the new Super steels but for me it's still a viable option. Stainless, easy to sharpen and maintain and lasts forever. For this price it's really a no brainer, Just buy it.

    Punches above it's weight

QSP deserve more recognition than they get. The Patriot punches above it's weight, it's easily a match for the excellent Ontario RAT II and I really respect the RAT II but you could buy 2 Patriots and get change for the price of a RAT II. Ergonomics are deceptively good for such a square looking knife, the blade action is slick and so is the lock. 440C is dated but in a £17.95 knife it's still a good option, the edge is properly ground and the knife came sharp out of the box. Fit and finish are excellent, in fact It would be excellent for a far more expensive knife. Materials may not be exciting but it's solid and seems hardwearing. A month of carry testing (I usually aim for a week but if a knife's good I'll carry it longer) showed the knife to be robust and serviceable. It's unobtrusive in the pocket, can be opened and closed 1 handed even though I'm left handed, the handle's grippy and the blade geometry is excellent. Over all I'd recommend this knife if it was in the £45 - £55 range but it's (at time of writing) £17.95! Excellent value for money.

    Great value.

Very nice affordable knife. Blade well centered good blade shape and very sharp. I ordered the blue version just for a change as all my others have green or black scales. Usual quick delivery from Heinnie.

    Top notch

Lovely little knife. Very smooth opening, fires out almost as if its assisted opening. Shaving sharp out of the box. Perfectly centred to my eye. Light weight. Well finished with no rough edges, worn torx screws or shoddy jimping. Strong pocket clip. Grippy G10, looks nice and subtle in green. Very good knife... excellent for £17.95. Only arrived today so I cant talk of longevity. Received the knife next day, after only specifying standard delivery (as usual for Heinne Haynes).

    Interesting knife.

Posted by Leigh on 10th Jan 2019

Ok, so let's start off with what it's not: It's not a heavy duty knife. Don't try to baton or abuse it, because if you do, you will break it. So what is it? I describe it as QSP's answer to a No8 Inox Opinel, without the disadvantages. It's easy to open, locks & it's a slicer. Really can't argue with that. Only minor issue I have with it is that it came with something of a wire edge. Not a surprise and easily remedied with a little TLC. Mind you, at under £18 I wasn't expecting a mirror polished edge. I suppose one could knock off a couple of stars over it, but at this price? Get real. I'm happy.
