    Nice

Posted by Darren on 5th Feb 2018

First off, this is a beautifully made knife. All grinds are perfect and the handle is nicely done. Comfortable in my hand and nimble to use. Sheath is also well made and all in all a nice package. The only reason I docked it one star is the OTB sharpness is not good. The steel used (440c) is rather hard on my particular example and getting the edge to razor is taking time and that's using diamond stones!

    Puma Bowie

My Puma Bowie arrived with the same handle as the White Hunter. Have a look at it, and while you are there, check out the 5 star reviews. I think the reviews for this model (Bowie), are negative and unfounded. Blade - 6.5". Handle - 4.5". Stock - 3.7mm. Balance - on the first finger - behind the guard. The Stag scales are really thick, each one is .5" thick. So the handle is over 1" wide. It really fills the hand, (glove size large). This model is best in the sabre-grip. The shelf for the thumb, is by design. Puma have been making this model for many decades. The leather scabbard is custom grade, top quality. You are not going to get better, whoever makes it. I think this is best used for breaking down game. Puma knives hold their value well. I am very pleased with my purchase.

    Beautifull collectable

This is a stunning knife, the stag is superb and blade a very usable size. It can never be a user because of the tiny handle. I have large-ish hands (size 10 gloves) but it's way too small for any prolonged use. At near £300 it's not functional enough IMO but I'm glad it's in my collection, in fact I even bought the damascus version too.

    Puma Stag Bowie

I acquired one of these for nothing. It is weighted really well. It sharpens really well. Holds an edge really well. It looks great. The only issue I have with it is the handle. It is beautiful to look at, without a doubt. However, it is quite angular in the hand, and as such makes it a little uncomfortable to use for very long periods of time. I will say though, as manageable sized Bowies go, this one is very nice indeed.

Amazing Bowie got this one when HH were doing them at just over £100. A little to light in weight for me but usable, and those marks on the blade well if you really know you Puma blades you will know that is been Diamond stamped to show how strong the blade is.

    Attention to Detail Disappointing

Posted by Steve Aitken on 30th Sep 2009

Beautifully finished, elegant but useable blade shape, and very obviously well made.......so why did Puma make the handle so small? As a collectors item this is lovely, as a working field tool the handle is simply too short by about an inch for ungloved normal size hands. It's a great blade, one of the nicest I've seen, but on this type of knife the handle is a serious let down and renders it suitable for only vegetable cutting.

for a knife of so called quality i was very dissapointed with this knife for £127,the blade was scratched there is 2 like pitt marks on the blade and the point of the blade had browning on it where it had be ground so overall if thats what handmade is like i would rather leave it alone.
