The MKM Cellina Santos Wood, designed by Lucas Burnley, is a modern slipjoint, UK friendly carry pocket knife that offers an impressive combination of elegance, versatility and practical functionality. This elegant knife has a powder-metallurgical M390, slimline blade with a thumb hole to aid opening.

Handle scales made from santos wood highlight the exquisite manufacturing of this version and combine very nicely with the titanium bolsters. The thumb opening and outside lanyard hole as well as the flowing lines of the slender handle are prominent design features. A blue anodized titanium ring around the pivot screw creates a special accent. Lucas Burnley decided not to add a clip to the Cellina. Instead, the knife comes with a brown leather sheath with magnetic belt loop.

    Gorgeous

Posted by Nicholas on 30th Apr 2020

Let me start by saying, this knife is an object of true beauty. You may think this looks good in photos but in the metal it is absolutely gorgeous & that is partly down to the exceptional fit & finish. That being said the finish is not perfect, the inner edges of the nail nick/lightening hole are sharp, so it both tares up your thumbnail & likes to fill up with material from whatever you’re cutting. Since we’re talking negatives the ergonomics are not perfect, in hard use the finger guard would be a hotspot & would abrade your index finger but really that’s not what this knife is for. If you want a hard use knife there are plenty of other options, this is intended as a gentleman’s/lady’s EDC knife & honestly that’s about it for negatives. On the positive side let me repeat, gorgeous. The spring bar, blade’s spine & edges of the liners are all crowned, the wood is beautifully figured & the collars around the pivot are beautiful. The blade is made from thin stock of M390, a great steel alloy & is thin behind the edge, making for a great slicer. The blade geometry is also a highlight, making for a fine slicer but also very precise fine work knife. The back spring is a little heavy but that helps with safety, there’s a good positive half stop & the action is very smooth. The pocket sheath is an object of beauty in and of itself, made from quality leather the sheath’s loop closes with strong magnets, so you can clip it over the side of your pocket or your belt securely enough. Clipping it in to your pocket makes the knife accessible whilst retaining it well but keeps it out of the way & is a tactile joy to find in the side of your pocket. So in summery, this is a gorgeous, stylish premium looking (& priced) knife with a great sheath that’s well made but is also a good precise cutting tool. As long as you’re not spending your day braking down cardboard or dressing animals I highly recommend adding an MKM Cellina to your collection & it’s good enough to be your EDC knife if style matters to you.
