MecArmy have quickly developed a strong reputation at Heinnie Haynes® for offering products of great quality at very reasonable price points. Like so many products coming out of their factory, the MecArmy EK3R Stonewashed folding knife is a very fine example of their work.

This UK-friendly carry has a non-locking blade in Sandvik 12C27 staniless steel. The blade measures 6.75cm, and we very much like the way that the flat ground blade is slightly upswept with a drop point. It opens with no stop, and in the hand, the blade sits well forward, proud of the first finger. It doesn’t quite open with one hand, but the blade cutout give good purchase for a firm handgrip. At 2.3mm thick, the blade has a feeling of solidity.

The handle is of stainless steel, the two sides of which are hex-bolted together. The stainless pocket clip is designed for tip down, right side carry.

    Great knofe

Posted by John on 13th Sep 2020

Forget the pocket clip - I removed it immediately as I never use them anyway. A very well finished knife, no burrs or rough edges anywhere, and nice and sharp out of the box. A better size and feel in the hand than the CRKT Pilar (just my opinion of course), and reminiscent of an all steel army knife, without the marlin spike or second blade. A great UK friendly EDC - and the usual superb service from HH of course.

    One problem . . .

Posted by Michael on 2nd Aug 2020

. . . . that's the totally abysmal pocket clip. It is utter garbage. The first time i tried to put it in the pocket it bent out of shape. Then i tested it a little more and it just broke off !! Total Garbage !! its WAY to poor with no spring just where its needed because of the thinness. Its a shame as the knife itself is quite nice. Tactile and smooth to the feel. Centered well with no blade play. It wasn't that sharp but half a dozen strokes on a ceramic rod fixed that up. So would i buy it again? if the clip was decent then yes, but as it is i would say no. The only reason i did not send back to HH when the clip first bent out of shape was that i'm quite happy to take it off and cover the holes with a tiny cover plate and use the lanyard hole instead. Superb UK legal EDC pocket knife

Posted by Alijami on 4th Jul 2019

A superbly designed UK legal EDC pocket knife. Tough because of its all steel construction, a 12C27 blade, my preferred EDC pocket knife steel. A non-threatening profile. Not the lightest knife in the pocket but no edges to catch. First things first, I removed the pocket clip, as I do, preferring a lanyard or fob. The lanyard hole is generously sized and unusually will accommodate a double loop of 550 paracord. Could not be considered OHO but the hole makes it really to pinch open with wet fingers or with gloves. This is not a pocket knife that needs or will damage fingernails. Note that there is no half-stop. I don't think that is a problem because the closing action is predictable with no sudden releases. My sample is a little gritty. I have concluded it's tang to back-spring friction which I will polish out in due course. A unique knife which easily meets my EDC rotation criteria.

    Rolls Royce

Posted by Mike - Rifleman of Rye on 11th Apr 2018

Being first in any endeavour is mostly fun, and this is certainly the case with this knife. I have a small collection of UK Friendly knives, such as an Eye Witness lambs foot with a carbon steel blade and a CRKT Edgie, which I cannot replace if any of them are lost or stolen. So I have been on the look out for an EDC knife that allows me to walk abroad without being detained by Her Majesty's Constabulary in compliance with the UK's idiot knife law. I purchased this knife in conjunction with a Svord peasant knife (see review) as the result of an exchange for a Friday folder which was returned from whence it came because it let me down badly. Both knives are polar opposites to each other as chalk is from cheese, or Laurel from Hardy. This knife is almost perfect. Although slim it fits the hand comfortably, and opens and shuts smoothly. It was razor sharp out of its box, and has, I believe, superior Swedish stainless steel, although made in China? It is a 'Rolls Royce' of a knife, and one of the nicest folding knives I have ever handled in over fifty years. A further plus is that those gentlemen knife users who wear tight trousers or shorts and complain about large folders being uncomfortable in their pockets will find that this little fella will not offer competition to anything else below their belt. So pilgrims your should buy one whilst stocks last. HH (Richard) dealt with me with kindness and grace, and delivery was magical as always.
