    Surprisingly good

My first item from Magnum, Boker's budget sibling company. I had heard mixed things about Magnum and this knife in particular- some had said it comes blunt otb and the heat treatment is awful, some that the action is gritty etc. First thing that struck me is the size- this is almost as long as my forearm! Then the weight- it's heavy but not very heavy, comforting but not sluggish. Then the balance- balanced just around the gap between the first and second finger when you hold it naturally, or where your first finger is when you place your thumb on the jimping. The blade is very thick, with a hollow grind (not super deep though)- yet to try slicing veg with it but I think it should be fine for smaller bits. Sharp otb- not razor but not far off, and absolutely fine for anything you intend to use a kukri for. Given the blade is 440a too, and the edge retention is never going to be fantastic, I think this is a perfectly reasonable sharpness. Action is smooth and lockup is tight. The length of the handle means you can easily move your hand back a bit to get a bit more thwop behind the cutting edge- I'm sure it would be great for roots or other tough stuff. Honestly I'm surprised. Fit and finish is good, edge is sharp, design is well balanced. Can't speak for edge retention yet but I'll update if that's an issue. Blade design looks like it'll be very good for draw cuts in the kitchen, which I'll also be putting to the test. My first Magnum purchase but it won't be my last.

    Loves it

Had one over 5 years now and its a beast of a knife, used on many a wild camp over, great at shelter building to process catch due to its belly, overall makes a great all rounder and for the price it is a no brainer.
