    Brilliant take on a traditional

Posted by Elliott on 16th May 2020

Overall a brilliant knife, the mix of modern materials and old school traditional is great! The M390 steel is fantastic at holding an edge and is one of the best steels on the market, and with a mirror finished edge you will get fantastic slicing performance out of this fully flat ground blade. The blade is thin behind the edge like on most traditional styled knives - Im sure this blade would be great for all sorts of edc tasks, such as apple cutting, rope cutting, or even the odd bit of outdoor use, carving and such. The use of micarta is great, it fits nicely up against the titanium bolsters and gives this modern knife a nice natural, almost 'woody' feel, without the downsides to having wooden scales that can be affected by the environment around you. The micarta has a smooth semi-gloss look to it, over time this will probably fade and start to patina and become more like 'your knife' than say a carbonfiber or wood. If you love the old school styling, but you like the conviniences of adjusting your pivot, the lightweight feeling of modern materials and overall far superiour steel that you will find in moden knives, then this is definetly for you. This knife looks like it should be much heavier than it is, it has a very li8ghtweight and balanced feel that I was not expecting. This knife is an absolute bargain for the price, the fit and finish is excellent, no gaps in between the backspacer and spring, all the screws came perfectly tightened, no blade play and a very smooth action. The 'walk and talk' of the knife is unusually dull sounding, almost as if the spring is soft, but this is not the case, the spring is more than strong enough (similar strength to a standard swiss army knife) but I believe the titanium used on the knife is changing the overall 'acoustics' of how this knife sounds when opening and closing. This is definietly not a downside, and it makes for a very refined and pleasurable feel when using it. Overall, I would recommend this knife to everyone, and if you are a person that useally goes for the 'high speed low drag' kind of knives with the modern 'tacti-cool' styling, don't over look this as an option, its a nice change and a great addative to the collection!
