Leatherman Rebar EDC

having several leatherman tools floating about my house I have a good working knowledge of them. my personal favourite is my wave which is really well designed and easy to get to a blade when needed, however being leatherman it has locking blades (juice , style and squirt models do not). I was gutted to lose my old PST (original leatherman) which had no locking tools and was perfect for pretty much everything, alas you cant get them anymore unless you can find someone in the states willing to send a second hand one over to the uk (amazon and ebay prohibit this now). the EDC rebar is currently the only full size leatherman without blades so a no brainer in the uk, the tools all do their job well enough however you will be surprised at how light this is if you are used to the heft of the wave mode. for some unknown reason leatherman charge a premium for the edc rebar which has fewer tools than the standard model but hey you want one guess you have to deal with that. mine came with a nice leather sheath that doesn't deform and keeps things easily accessible. in short, If you want a full size uk leatherman and cant afford £250 for the 30th anniversary edition of the PST then this will do nicely, failing that I highly recommend the Gerber MP600 bladeless which is more corrosion resistant but equally expensive. PS I would normally buy from Hennie as I must have spent over £1000 due to the excellent customer service, however out of stock so had to go elsewhere sorry guys! :( grab one while they are around!

Just to be on the cautious side I prefer to carry "UK legal" EDC tools for non-work/personal use. This "Knifeless Rebar" replaces a Gerber fliky tool 400 or 600 which left me doubting the small components would last long. Leatherman are by far the best multitool manufacturer in my opinion. I've tried most manufacturers over the last four decades. All the edges of Leatherman screw drivers, for example, are nice and sharp and square, not rounded off from excessive polishing like other manufacturers. Attention to detail "par excellence". Positives: 1) Very sturdy tool; feels very strong in the hand just like a reduced size Leatherman Supertool 300. 2) Perfect selection of tools for "my" needs. 3) Much more portable/pocketable than the larger tools but still fits a large hand well. Negatives: None I also always carry a UK legal knife, which is currently the very well constructed "HH Boker Plus Tech Tool 1" which is a must at the current price. Love that 12C27 blade!
