Very nice sheath, and for a Hultafors!

Posted by Bruce on 1st Aug 2017

So, it looks like this is the first review of this sheath, and I didn't buy it for a Mora Companion, but for a Hultafors GK Heavy Duty. You must know, however, that a bit of modification to the knife handle is required to make it fit, but once done it's a better feeling knife handle and a great fitting sheath. I first contacted HH about whether this combo might work, and received a detailed reply from Richard (along with a photo) describing what needed to be done to the handle and how to form the sheath to the knife. This involved cutting off some of the finger guard, which is something I had been considering for awhile anyway. So, I got to work, and once started, decided to make the handle more like I wanted it, which included some handle shaping and thinning in places to make it fit my hand. The sheath arrived the morning after I ordered it. I put a coat of oil on it (and the knife blade) and shoved the knife in, then heated it using steam from the kettle as Richard had suggested, then used my hands to do some additional forming around the handle. Let the knife in sheath sit for half an hour and voila, a perfect fit. The knife is actually more secure in the formed leather than it was in its original sheath. It may seem a little crazy to spend nearly 3 times as much for a sheath as the knife cost, but with all the mods I've done to this knife (including the blade), I've grown to really love it. And, I just love leather. I think the combo looks really nice, and having seen photos of this sheath with a Mora, I know that looks nice too. A knife doesn't have to be expensive to be good, and for use to want to give it a little upgrade! Thanks again, Richard, for the great service!

Was a good buy at £9.99

Posted by Jack on 9th Jan 2017

I bought a couple of these sheaths at £9.99 apiece a couple of months ago. That's a fair price for a basic unlined leather sheath. I was just thinking of buying another, but the rapid price hike to £16.95 has put me off. Sorry Heinnie.
