Klarus S1 Ti-Scal Folding Knife

18+ UK Friendly carry
$50.42

At just 5.8cm long when closed and weighing in at a mere 5g this tiny folder with removable scalpel blades is a tiny, but excellent blade. Despite this impressive state of affairs the Klarus S1 Ti-Scal is surprisingly easy to manoeuvre and use effectively.

The quality is right up there too. The handle is made from medical grade TC4 Titanium, that's the kind of titanium a surgeon would use for a bone implant or NASA use for their aeronautics research. It won't rust, is light in weight and has a high tensile strength.

The No 11 scalpel blade folds away neatly into the handle and opens unlocked making it legal to carry within the UK. It is supplied with a key ring and has a handy hole in the handle to accommodate a neck chain.

    Expensive and thebbladebfolder wiggles

Posted by GK on 2nd Aug 2020

This is more expensive than the NTK05 but not as good. First of all with the NTK05 you have the same materials and size but it can use different blades whereas this one only used one type. My main gripe is that the price is high and the build quality is not as good as the NTK05 which is in fact cheaper. It's a good little folding scalpel but the folding blade holder has a lot of wiggle which makes it less precise. Again the NTK05 is better in this regard too.

    Can find cheaper

After a bit of searching I found you can buy the exact same generic brand version of this knife on aliexpress for considerably cheaper, don’t waste your money

    Fantastic lightweight mini knife

Posted by Marcus on 3rd Jul 2019

Very compact, incredibly light while still feeling pretty solid. Uses a standard size scalpel blade so no need to worry about long term edge retention or sharpening of the blade as it can be replaced very easily (also the use of standard blades allows for a choice of high carbon or stainless steel, depending on how you intend to use it). Feels really well made with a positive action as it clicks into the open and closed positions. The use of a notch at the pivot to only allow release of the blade at a specific angle seems well thought out (although seemingly not documented, it's fairly obvious when in use so not a problem) and should prevent accidental disengagement of the blade while in use (or loosening of the blade while in the closed position.

    Quirky but pricey

Posted by Martin on 15th Apr 2019

While it is quite expensive for such a tiny tool, it makes a great addition to a small first aid kit (with a few sterile blades of course). Very lightweight, would be good on a keyring and I think it would fit nicely into a keysmart too, though I haven't tried yet. It's tricky, but it can be opened one handed with a bit of practice, though I have quite slender hands. Being a #11 scalpel, it'll do great for all kinds of minor cutting tasks. The blades are easily replaced and 11s are inexpensive and easy to source. It's also nice to be able to remove the blade if you're heading into a secure premises as well. A quirky addition to any collection, but the price is less than impressive.

    Stolen Copy

Posted by Dan Boy on 5th Apr 2019

I backed this knife on Kickstarter under the name 3Coil Crane. Titaner ripped off their design and are now selling it to companies like Klarus. I bought one to see the quality and found the blade attachment difficult to use and unsteady.

    Super Item

Posted by Sean on 3rd Apr 2019

A fantastic little knife ultra light and fits into my wallet with a spare couple of blades. I particularly like the way the blade can only come out when the knife is partial open. All in all well designed and beautifully made

    Very good

Posted by Edward s on 15th Mar 2019

Very good little knife very restricted on what you can use it for. But what you can use it for it does excellently get a lanyard for it or you won't have it long as it's very very light and you'd never notice if it fell out of you're pocket. I wouldn't be without mine!

    Overpriced ?

Posted by dactrius on 9th Mar 2019

its a nice little item but I personally think the sized it is it isn't worth the £32.95 its so tiny but still quite handy putting into a wallet or key chain as an edc when my wife saw it she wanted it tbh and I told her the price and she was shocked

    Quality little knife

Posted by Shakeel on 3rd Mar 2019

A+++ Very nicely made handle, holds the scalpel blade very securely and when closed there is A good amount of tension holding the blade handle in, no wobble or chance of it coming open unintentionally. Amongst other thing this makes light work of opening the toughest of plastic packaging, it even comes with a spare blade which fits nicely in the money clip of my trayvax wallet also available on the awesome Heinnie.com the best edc website anywhere on the internet!
