The first reference to a Sheffield cutler dates to 1297! They have certainly been making knives for a long time and when the city became a steel producing area the industry took off. When you buy a knife made in Sheffield you become the owner of a little piece of history.

The Sheffield Genuine British Army Clasp Knife has been made by Joseph Rogers in Sheffield since the mid-1800's and the design has not changed much since then mainly because it is an effective and hard working tool with enough versatility to perform your most important tasks. It has a non-locking sheepsfoot blade, a can opener, a marlin spike for untying knots and a screwdriver/pry. Job done!

    Quality Knife

Posted by Peter Owen on 31st Mar 2023

I rarely review items that I have purchased but in this case I have made an exception. This military knife is a great piece of kit, manufactured to a very high standard in Sheffield. Form and function are to be found in equal measure. I carry it with me everyday and use it around the land for many different tasks. I can highly recommend this military knife.

    British Army Clasp Knife

Very sharp, good proportions, got a nice weight to it and feels like it can do what is meant to. Tight fit but it will loosen up with time . Stainless, sharp , very practical and reasonably priced

    Army clasp knife.

Excellent product. Disappointed with heavy lettering. Would have preferred no inscription or even offer of personalised lettering. The offer to purchase suitable lanyard would be good.

    British Army Knife

Just like the one I used to own, only one criticism there was the slightest of rolls on part of the edge, not enough to return just annoying. It's not there now but didn't realise I'd have to give it TLC so soon

    British army clasp knife

I got this out of sentimentality: my Dad's version, issued him during the war, was nicked from his toolbox years ago, and I've never known what a marlin spike does, so I thought I'd find out. As usual, arrived promptly and well packaged. A solid and honest little knife: the main blade is very sharp - can't tell how well it sharpens yet; I've yet to blunt it! It's a bit heavy and clumsy for a pocket carry, but I love the straight blade and it's reassuringly old fashioned clunkinesss. I think it would be versatile - well Dad used his for forty years, and he was a carpenter. Any paint tin that needs prying open, this is your girl! My only quibble is it's a bit of a strong spring for my old hands, but I expect I'll wear it looser.
