      A high price for a rip-off...

Posted by Paul on 14th Aug 2019

Having long used an ID holder of the very same design myself for work, albeit a 'cheaper' version from one of the lesser known kit companies, I recently acquired one of these Hazard 4 versions as a gift to a colleague who liked mine... and promptly threw it back for a refund!

The design itself is great in concept, which is probably why other companies make them, too - Mine holds a Swiss Card, ID card, gaffer tape, cable ties, paperclips, 4" pen, and a few little extras that come in handy for work.

However, the Hazard 4 craftsmanship is woefully inadequate.
The split ring is a bad idea and ought to have been a welded D-ring. The strap over the card slots is quite thin and the stitching is especially poor here. The paracord lanyard has no slide adjuster and there are no eyelets to hang the holder horizontally. The pen loop elastic is cheap and tacky, so won't last very long.

But worst of all, is that the velcro ID window component is sold separately - For that price (and indeed a couple quid less) it should come included!

This is comparing the Hazard 4 one directly to a cheap 'knock-off' version (which did include a velcro ID window), so I know how much good quality actually costs. Out of respect for Heinnie Haynes I won't name the other brand here, but would strongly recommend they switch supplier!

The Hazard version will serve well enough if you've no other option, but I can *NOT* recommend this myself.

      Brilliant little thing

Posted by Gareth on 9th Dec 2018

Been using mine for a few years now. Perfect for ID - with the extra patch everyone else has mentioned. I usually wear it on my belt, because I don't like things round my neck. The little pockets are great for business cards, a few blank cards for notes, and the other IDs I sometimes need, and the pen loop is really useful for my EDC knife - a little Maserin.

      Good pass holder

Posted by Ricky on 8th Jan 2017

As has been mentioned it needs the Velcro H4 small ID patch to display works ID.
I've had mine for a year and the only three slight downsides are that the elastic pen loop has started to fray and stretch but looks like it will last for a good while yet.
Also the rubbery- silicon type ID window, in the optional H4 ID patch, whilst unlikely to crack as do the plastic windows in wallets, is a magnet for ballpoint pen marks which are impossible to remove.
I removed the lanyard and fitted the holder to a clip which I attached to my Hi-Vis. This is an essential modification unless you want to be dragged head first to a grisly death by whirling machinery - the supplied lanyard does NOT have a quick-release safety fastener.
Apart from that it's a very tough and useful item which has prevented loss of works ID which otherwise might fall out of the feeble pocket as usually found on hi-vis vests.
By far the best pass-holder I have ever used and built like a tank. The Velcro on the retaining tab and on the front for the ID patch has shown no signs of wear whatsoever.

      Good piece of kit

Posted by James on 10th Dec 2016

I bought this for my work ID with the Velcro ID window also available from Heinnie.
I carry a small space pen in the pen loop so I always have one to hand at work when I need it.
Hazard 4 kit is well made and durable and this is good value for money.

      Cracking item

Posted by James on 28th Jun 2016

I've had mine a while now and I use it for my work ID and access cards. Excellent , useful ID holder that holds my pen and a few different access cards as well as my ID card. Tough, well built and standing up to life very well so far.

      Multi-function carry all

Another use for this, asthma inhaler holder when used with a 5.11 Light-Writing Patch (sold by Hennie). Inhaler is a tight fit but will go in the 'light' side of this patch which keeps it to hand while back doubles as useful wallet. Used for coming on a year now by my son, while personally I use mine daily with work ID's via the hazard 4 Small ID patch as others have mentioned. Very versatile bit of kit with a bit of thought.

      Perfection

Posted by Ray on 30th Aug 2012

Perfection (when used with the small Hazard 4 ID holder patch).

Stick the ID holder patch on this little gem and it's perfect for carrying access and ID cards, business cards, a little emergency folding money, an itty-bitty notepad and a pen.

I've been through a few ID holders and this is the best by far.

      Perfect...

Posted by Johno Griffiths on 14th Aug 2012

Agree with the other review that it is limited without the velcro Hazard 4 Small ID patch (Which is also available at HH - One of the few places it is!), but with that it is a great product.

Well made, I use it for work and carry my ID on display, Proximity door entry card, business cards, my Authorisation, and Warrant card, as well as my Space Pen X-Type which is the perfect fit!

Highly recommend... But the ID patch is an essential purchase. Great HH service as always.
