Fox Knives Military Division is listed as an official supplier to NATO, and have built up a solid reputation for producing high quality, effective tools to support wide ranging operational requirements.

The Fox Panabas FX-509 is a survival knife with a difference. It's a mini Parang with moulded black Forprene handle scales. The scales have been shaped to provide an ergonomic grip. Where the fingers naturally meet the metal of the handle, Fox have provided generously cut jimping so that you can be sure of a firm grip on the tool.

The 17cm blade is made from a coated N690Co Stainless Steel with a thickness of 0.6cm. The blade has a large half-moon finger choil, and in the hand the tool feels well balanced with the weight of the blade slightly forward, for powerful wood chopping. The choil end of the blade is nicely positioned so that fine control can be exercised when working on small jobs.

The tool is supplied with a 1000 denier nylon MOLLE sheath which holds the tool very firmly, secured by a press-stud foldover. The sheath has a large belt loop, for secure attachment, and has two strips of MOLLE webbing for attaching the sheath to your kit.

As an additional bonus, Fox have supplied this tool with a full survival kit - this also has MOLLE webbing, and can be attached to the sheath, although this adds extra bulk to the overall package. The survival kit contains a fire-striker and basic tinder, matches, candle, flexible saw, and basic first aid items.

The Fox Panabas is available in two versions:

  • Black coated blade, black handle, with black nylon sheath

  • Coyote tan coated blade, brown handle, with olive drab green sheath

finally, the One Tool Option Knife!

Posted by JungleBoy on 19th Jul 2020

As weekend Bushcrafter and Survivalist, this is my dream knife.

I know this Panabas shape can do all i need from small knife notch cuts, large knife for strong work and this works like an axe too. not too small, not too long. right weight and thickness too. Perfect!

Yes, this is my dream knife because i cannot afford it on my current day job and family expenses at moment but im always coming back to the HH site just to view it. Maybe someday or if Fox is willing to lend me one!

I want to prove what i see in the big curved design potential of this Fox Panabas.

    PANABAS

The FX-509 is a lovely little tool. I would describe it as compact and lightweight. There are a couple of features I really like. The clear hilt, (no upper guard), and the generous choil. The shape of the blade is nice too, when you assist with your spare hand. A nice job by FKMD. Blade - 7.25" including the ricasso. Handle - 5" (the longest part). Stock - 6.06mm. All specs. approx. The scabbard has a hard insert. A detachable drop-loop, with a QD belt loop. Two retaining straps, the upper is detachable; and a MOLLE back with drain-port. The included survival-kit is a nice touch, although most users may already have their own set-up. Thanks to HH for a great price. I am very pleased with my purchase !

This knife is my favorite in my blade assemblage the the handle is unbelievably comfortable
no hot spots at all & chops great in other words the knife is strong & holds an edge for a long time
with a great sheath & survival kit with a pouch that can be worn on knife sheath belt or pack this is a compact parang that performs like a large parang this knife made it through the test of time
it has a hidden tang & after time and time of chopping hard wood live wood the blade is still straight the handle is strong & durable it is a one tool option blade in my opinion so if your thinking about purchasing this knife purchase it you will get your a excellent knife with for a excellent price
