Fox Knives Military Division is listed as an official supplier to NATO, and have built up a solid reputation for producing high quality, effective tools to support wide ranging operational requirements.
The Fox Panabas FX-509 is a survival knife with a difference. It's a mini Parang with moulded Forprene handle scales. The scales have been shaped to provide an ergonomic grip. Where the fingers naturally meet the metal of the handle, Fox have provided generously cut jimping so that you can be sure of a firm grip on the tool.
The 17cm blade is made from a coated N690Co Stainless Steel with a thickness of 0.6cm. The blade has a large half-moon finger choil, and in the hand the tool feels well balanced with the weight of the blade slightly forward, for powerful wood chopping. The choil end of the blade is nicely positioned so that fine control can be exercised when working on small jobs.
The tool is supplied with a 1000 denier nylon MOLLE sheath which holds the tool very firmly, secured by a press-stud foldover. The sheath has a large belt loop, for secure attachment, and has two strips of MOLLE webbing for attaching the sheath to your kit.
As an additional bonus, Fox have supplied this tool with a full survival kit - this also has MOLLE webbing, and can be attached to the sheath, although this adds extra bulk to the overall package. The survival kit contains a fire-striker and basic tinder, matches, candle, flexible saw, and basic first aid items.
The Fox Panabas is available with a coyote tan coated blade, brown handle, with olive drab green sheath
