The Fox Baby Core is another cracking little folder form the genius knife designer Jesper Voxnæs. It is a compact folder that nevertheless fills the hand and with enough character and functionality to be your next favourite EDC knife. The blade is under three inches and non-locking so can be carried in the UK with a degree of confidence.

The blade is made from N690 stainless steel, is razor sharp out of the box and has a cut out for opne handed opening and a reverse tanto/drop point form which maximises cutting edge capability. The handle borrows elements from the Fox Vox Core fixed blade and is extremely solid, very strong and made from FRN. The partial backspine is anodised aluminium in a varity of colours to contrast the choice of handle colour; black, blue, red or orange.

    Good, some niggles

Posted by James Carroll on 22nd Mar 2024

Not too bad a knife. One handed opening is really nice and feels great in hand. The choil is too small and doesn't offer any protection from the cutting edge, however. If you're looking to hold with the choil to choke up the blade, perhaps look elsewhere. Also be aware that there is no half-stop which I'd personally like to see.

    Lovely Little Knife

Posted by Dan Sharpe on 21st Jan 2023

I had somehow neglected this little Vox designed star until I got the awesome HH exclusive CF handled M390 version. So I bought this too and it's really lovely little knife. Is it worth buying considering the better materials of the CF/M390 version for only £40 more? Not if you only need and want one superb EDC, and have that extra £40 to spend. If you, like me, appreciate FRN handles and like N690 as solid utilitarian steel, and you just like knives then this is too good not to own.

    Very Nice

Posted by SharpTerry on 1st May 2022

I really like this knife and it is my new favourite EDC. The blade is nicely finished and razor sharp out of the box, nice even grinds and perfectly centred. The handle fits the hands nicely and I agree that the FRN scales seem a bit more quality and substantial than usual. Nice lanyard hole allowed me to add a 550 paracord lanyard. The opening and closing action is absolutely fine in my opinion. There is no half stop but it feels like a ball detent system, you need a positive push to overcome the detent to begin opening and then there is a slight click as it reaches the open position (not locked however) the knife feels safe and secure in the hand once open. In practice this feels very similar to the Heinnie Haynes Pilar in terms of opening closing action. I love the blade shape and the easily sub 3” total blade length (whichever way you measure it) makes it a real winner for me. Highly recommended.

    Flawed design

Posted by Andrew Wallington on 14th Jan 2022

Whilst it is welcomed that Fox has tried to adapt a liner lock knife for the UK market, in my view the removal of the lock compromises the functionality. There is no back spring because the original version relied on the liner lock to secure the blade, as a result the blade closes far too easily. The finger choil does help but it is too small and, where it meets the blade, is too sharp risking a cut finger if the blade closes. It is a good looking knife and feels comfortable but great care is needed when using it. As always the service from HH was perfect

    Quality, Sharp, Firm and Friendly

I just couldn’t say no…! So I had to get myself and the Mrs one! The Baby Fox Core is an amazing little knife. It’s literally the perfect size, small and nicely neat with an extremely sharp blade out of the box. The designer of this knife, Jesper Voxnæs has made it look so friendly and feel so friendly with an easy one hand opening and a pocket clip almost perfect enabling a complete deep pocket carry. Would I recommend, yes. No doubt. Looks like I’m in the Mrs good books with this one!!

    Excellent little knife

Posted by David on 7th Jan 2022

It's great to see Fox adapting their liner lock knives for the UK market. Sharp out of the box, fairly thick blade, great handle feeling, and very friendly-looking. One handed opening and closing very easy as there's no half stop. I wish the finger choil was a little bigger or deeper but otherwise this knife is perfect for my everyday needs and feels more premium than other knives at this price.

    Top spec, top price

Great knife, well worth the money. Puts Spyderco to shame for their inflated prices. They are missing out not releasing more uk friendly items, we are sick of PM2's

    Homerun for Fox Knives

Posted by Andy Parker on 9th Dec 2021

A quality sharp from Fox Knives. Pleasing weight, not heavy, just solidly built. The FRN scales don't feel like your usual fibreglass/nylon composite used by the likes of Spyderco, they feel a little more.... premium. The anodizing on the spacer is nicely done and gives it a smart look. Clip is the standard wire - capable of shifting from left/right carry but only tip up configuration. Nice stonewashed finish on the blade and sharp OTB. Highly recommended.
