Made to military specs, this folder series was developed to substitute, or compliment, a fixed blade. To reach this result, Extrema Ratio used only the hardest, thickest materials and a very safe, well tested locking system: the Back Lock. To reach the maximum level of safety while using the folder and to reduce the risk of accidental closing of the blade, the knife is equipped with a manual rifle/like safety system. When the knife is closed, the safety reduces the risk that the knife could be opened and used against the owner (Military or Police operators)..

All the knife parts are milled with CNC high precision milling machinery. The assembling, quality control and sharpening are done by skilled craftsmen. The blade is made with N690 Cobalt Stainless Steel which is a high performance steel with excellent cutting and sharpening characteristics.

The blade is a flat grind and has 58HRC hardness. The handle is made of black anodized Anticorodal, a type of aluminium that is very strong and resistant to corrosion. The end of the handle, made of hardened N690 which makes an effective glass breaker. All the screws, pins and clip are made from burnished stainless steel. The blade, lever, and tang are coated with a Testudo costing which is very resistant to abrasion and oxidation.

    Once handled, twice liked !

Posted by N WEB on 25th Oct 2016

This is a knife that is difficult to forget once handled, it is twice as much liked! The general feel gives the handler a chance to appreciate the extra quality both in design functions, materials used and safety. The machined quality is immediately visible and tasked to carry out any sort of use maintains it reliability endlessly. There are a number of special features that makes it standout from other makes; its sheer blade thickness is impressive and coupled with a number of safety features; it cannot be accidentally closed and it cannot be accidentally opened. I recommend this folder 100% both as an extremely functional knife and also as a collector's item to be admired.

    Extremely

Posted by LT 1664 on 29th Nov 2013

The previous two reviews have just about covered all points. However for my intended service use which requires a compact tactical folder that will deploy/function with ease with gloved hands in waterborne environments (usually salt water) as diverse as the Arctic, desert & jungle. The ergonomics are just not up to the same standard as the rest of the knife. Way too fiddly & stiff to operate so 4 stars. I have returned mine, & after some fantastic advice from Nick followed up by my own research based on his heads up! I have changed it for a Pohl Force Mike One Survival which is an outstanding knife that fits my personal requirements better. To date 5 stars for the Pohl Force. As always outstanding service from the team at Heinnies Truly a "tier one" organization.?

When you have a second chance..

Posted by The Pirate on 13th May 2012

The opening snap into place shows you the sheer tight tolerances of this knife. You know what you hear that solid click that knife won't close on you. The quality is exceptional and it's overly built to give you confidence in its abilities. The secondary lock means you can lock it shut or open. Effectively, it's a fixed blade when locked open, or a compliance tool when locked shut. The rear glass breaker makes compliance methods a dream. There is a reason so many special forces adopt ER for hard use or when you don't have a second chance. Fit and finish is the best in the world. You can only challenge what you know about knives by seeing the sheer quality and strength of the top of the food chain. Extrema ratio!

    One tough folder

Posted by JoeFish on 18th Dec 2008

If you're after the toughest folder you can imagine, this is for you. Utterly bombproof. Bit clumsy for fine tasks. Components beautifully made but let down by thoughless spring design: primary lock too stiff and secondary too loose, so marked down. I've sorted mine with a bit of tinkering and it's ace.
