The Case knife company started life in 1889 when four brothers - William Russell (W.R.), Jean, John, and Andrew Case (a.k.a. 'The Case Brothers') began fashioning knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. W.R.'s son, John Russell (Russ) Case, a former salesman for the Case Brothers brand, launched W.R. Case & Sons around the turn of the 20th century.

The Case Antique Bone Tribal is a classic example of the knifemakers art. The handle is a smooth bone with nickel silver bolsters fitted together with an obsessive attention to detail. The blade is stainless steel with a flat grind and is ideal for many light duties such as food prep or cord cutting.

    Proper Classy Case

Posted by DS on 31st Jul 2019

I like this a lot. The size of the knife is well-nigh perfect, somehow managing to appear larger than it is (if that makes sense) - substantial while still being pocket sized. The antique smooth bone covers are a sheer delight. The blade is a lovely dropped spearpoint affair, cutting edge on mine measuring exactly 7cm (rolled). The backlock suits the knife perfectly, and is a welcome feature even if it does make for a more problematic UK carry under current law.

Fit and finish are generally good, but not 5-star for this price level unfortunately. There's a visible gap between the spring and one of the liners (not good), and the blade's cutting edge came asymmetrical and rough as coarse sandpaper (easily sorted, but Case should take more pride in what leaves its factory).

That's the only downside though, and I don't want to part with this beautiful artefact. This Case epitomises a gentleman's pocket knife - it just exudes class and good taste.

Spectacularly good personal service from HH as usual.

    Oh My!

Posted by Oldgit on 5th Jan 2018

I love Christmas, I got some cash to spend and I bought this. It is gorgeous. Fit and finish perfect, blade play, none! Lock up, best I've seen and a nice snap. Blade is Sharp, grind is spot on. Bevel even and well executed. Cantering is spot on. Size is smaller than a Buck 110 and near as damit the same size as my EKA 8, only way thinner, about 3mm. Not used this knife yet other than the usual boyish tests of paper, cardboard box, blue nylon rope and a humble apple, so too early to talk about edge retention etc etc. But the kitchen floor was a mess

    Work of art

This knife should be on perminant display in an art gallery. You talk about form & function, it was razor sharp out of the box & it looks like it can perform several lifetimes of hard labour.
