The Japanese knifemaker Kansei Matsuno is a true master of his trade and his designs certainly showcase a unique style. This Boker Plus Wasabi G10 is no exception.

The skilful combination of Japanese style elements and features of a modern gentleman's pocketknife make for a top notch folder. The slender build and lightweight construction of the Boker Plus Wasabi complement the straightforward design and classic Japanese blade to make an elegant everyday knife.

The blade with ball bearings opens with one hand and is kept open as a slipjoint with a detent ball. It is non-locking with a blade measuring under three inches and is therefore UK friendly carry. It is made of reliable 440C steel.

The handle features stainless liners and a milled clip, with scales of tough and lightweight G10.

    Awesome little knife

Posted by Riz on 14th Feb 2020

I wholeheartedly agree with the reviews that enjoy this little knife. I liked the look of it from web and youtube reviews, but was a little put off by the 'closed cut yourself' review on here. My advice is to buy it. It's smaller than it looks and will not cut you when closed unless you have child sized fingers. With my Essex-dad sized hands it's fine. The blade is probably a mm or 2 away from the edge of the frame try as I might to cut myself with it closed I was not able to. It's small enough and light enough to disappear in a pocket, and perfect for what I want it for, slicing apples for my kids or doing arts and crafts, with the possibility of taking it as a spare in the field to dress out small game. I had bought a CRKT ripple by Ken Onion for this and though similarly small, the lock on the CRKT and stiff flipper make it less wieldy or legal in the event of wandering about with it in my pocket. Overall, very well made, and very fidget-able. I'm going to order the cocobolo and carbon versions as soon as they are back in stock.

    Beautiful

Posted by Jonathan on 12th Oct 2019

What a beautiful, beautiful knife. It really doesn't have to do anything else for me, but the design is also closely matched by the quality of the build and so I can spend ages playing with it, opening/closing and admiring from every angle. However, as others have said, it's not a knife for heavy duty work, and furthermore there's something about the shape of it which makes me want to hold it sideways when using it, which means I'm NOT holding the (very sharp) blade locked out... As a do-it-all EDC knife, I'd only score it a 2 or 3, but as dress knife and lovely thing to own and appreciate, it's 5 stars all the way. Not quite a shelf queen, but maybe a pocket queen?!

Can't say enough positive things ...

Posted by Conor on 10th Oct 2018

This is absolutely my favourite knife at the moment. Purely for aesthetics and usability. It's definitely not made for heavy work, but just as a light "gentleman's folder" that is razor sharp out of the box it doesn't get better. To the point where I'm debating buying both the olive wood and carbon fibre just to have them all (and in case tragedy befalls my G10). It could look a bit aggressive to a non-knife-person. However, it's such a beautiful a elegant knife, I really don't care.

reminds me of a gentlemans razor

Posted by ricado on 1st Sep 2018

opens well thin sharp almost to shave with blade, and i think non threatening in proportion. Brilliant for tomatoes, and actually all fruit, even tackled a small melon with ease. Delicate, you won't be splitting logs for kindling, but really smart for all food preparation, packets, boxes and all the usual business an edc is required for in a beautiful design with real fiddle factor, lovely click open shut. You won't stop until you cut yourself. I went with the g10 for the added stiffness but i'm actually considering the wood for an even friendlier disposition given that some fools have spoilt it for all.

    Not for edc

Posted by Rachael on 4th Jun 2018

I completely agree with the previous review it's a lovely knife cannot find any flaws with it, but in today's knife climate in the uk I don't feel comfortable carrying it outside the house even though it's uk friendly instaed I use my little bean fli*per ,, but it will be my primary go to knife about the house and once you've got the hang of opening it with one hand it does have that fiddle factor

    Nice knife, not EDC

Posted by Jezter on 30th May 2018

I really like this knife, lovely shape and blade profile. Great cutter and the ball detent adds a bit of security. I got the G10 version, really not sure it's worth the extra for carbon fibre in this case. However, it may be UK legal, but I don't think I'd want this pocket knife in my pocket if stopped. It will be in my EDC though, but only my around the house/camping/fishing EDC. I think it will earn its place there no problem.

    lovely light-use knife

Posted by Trevor on 17th May 2018

important if you're thinking of buying - this is a small thin knife, a perfect fruit slicer but NOT for heavy use. ok, above disclaimer aside, what a pleasant surprise! I have seen some bad feedback concerning boker plus fit and finish but no worries in this case, this is good looking and well constructed. The detent is not strong, but it holds both open and closed satisfactorily, and contextually this isn't an issue anyway when you consider the kind of tasks for which you'll be using the wasabi. The thin blade whips out fast and free, I can imagine it being a good fiddler once you have the hang of it. Not _quite_ hair-popping, but certainly sharp enough that I've nicked myself a few time getting the hang of opening it. All in all, a really nice purchase that I'm sure I'll be carrying around with me for a while.
