Boker Plus Rocket Pen Brass

A really nice piece of design bought one for my dad and he loved it.

A heavy weight pen that writes with purpose. The oval profile of the pen’s body takes a little getting used to but you can’t deny it is comfortable to write with. The bolt action is well defined and has a satisfying click - it makes a great fidget toy for those so inclined. The only criticism is that the gimping on the bolt on my pen was rather sharp and uncomfortable so I had to disassemble the pen to file it down. Great service and dispatch speed as ever from HH

This pen feels great in the hand; the oval shaped body makes it very comfortable to write with and the ink flows smoothly. There is no doubt the brass will retain its looks but my preference would be for a brass that develops a patina - but that is purely a personal thing. As a previous review said, it is an elegant pen. Being brass it is reassuringly heavy although I found it slightly top heavy, but you get used to it and it doesn’t detract from the smooth writing experience. The only other issue was the jimping on the bolt had uncomfortable sharp edges on mine. A quick bit of filing soon cured that but perhaps a better designed or more polished bolt should be standard. It is a very elegant brass pen that holds the golden color even after handling it for weeks. The bolt action is smooth, though the jimping on the bolt is a tad small. One thing that I wish that was addressed was the easiness with which the clip starts to unscrew in time, you need to use some threadlocker to be sure it wont fall off.

This pen is a great weight and shape. The brass definatly gives it an expensive feel but as an engineer out on jobs I have found it to be a little too slick at times. When pulling the pen out of pocket and manouvering it into place one handed can be very hard due to there being no grip or rough patches on the barrel. It looks very professional and in some office scenarios this may not be an issue but the overall product could be slightly improved with some small jimping near the tip of the pen. This may have to be an after market mod I do myself

Very few pens actually live up to their looks and feel as good in the hand as I had hoped. The Boker bolt action pens all feel good and this is by far the best to date. The brass gives it a decent weighty feeling and the oval shape is good. It also takes an easily available refill and is excellent value for money. Recommended!
