    Different in a good way

Posted by Unknown on 3rd Dec 2020

Out of all my knives this is the one that stands out as being a bit "different" in a good way! I can't quite put my finger on it but for a start it's a large front flipper which is not unique but relatively rare amongst all the thumb studs openers and I like a front flipper a lot (more please Hennie). As such it works a treat, easy flip with a bit of wrist or slow roll it, perfect. It's noticeable that there is a lot of weight in the blade but it's still pretty well balanced. It's also noticeable that the titanium scales are on the slim side and it is definitely a slim knife. So you get a large slim front flipper that looks good. I think the look is definitely pretty unique. To me in the closed position it reminds me of boats and waves and I find it a pleasing look which is definitely helped by the fact that the tang extends past the handle but then slopes back into it toward the pivot. To my mind it five this knife an pretty special look. Eventually this knife will get some serious work time but right now it is staying home because I don't want to mess it up. I'm seriously thinking of getting the G10 version for work or possibly the carbon fibre version or all three when funds allow. Lastly it's about as simple as you could get in terms of two scales and a blade. Great service from Hennie, more front flippers please (are back flippers going out of fashion or is it a bit unclear with the law at the moment?)

    Doggy's do-dads

top notch design ; less is more. a little bit of strop and it cuts 1" circles in newspaper. it's so plain and minimal, the pocket clip doubles as a return stop on the frame lock. lanyard eye would be nice. i'm a novice to the opening and frame lock, which are a wee bit awkward, but it's not taken me long to get joy out of it. the sharpening choil fits my finger too. i have arthritis in my hands which are thereby oversensitive. the silly-thin handle, the front opening, the awkward little gap to operate the frame lock are all comfortable to my hand. its a really lovely piece of engineering. All praise be to Heinnie!
