Junzi is a Chinese philosophical term often translated as "gentleman" or "superior person" and employed by Confucius in his works to describe the ideal man! We like to refer to the Junzi knife as the ideal knife for that "ideal man"!

Bestech are a relatively new company but with an extensive range of folders. Unfortunately many of them had a flipper to help the blade engage which, as you will know, we aren't able to import into the UK. Not only is the Junzi "flipperless" but it is also a non-locking sub 7.6cm (3") blade making it legal to carry within the UK at the owner's discretion. This is the only flipper-less knife available from Bestech, and is now available in the UK at Heinnie Haynes®. You'll not find this knife anywhere else in the world.

So what else makes the Bestech Junzi so special? Apart from it being one of the finest UK friendly carry knives we have, it also has a S35VN stainless steel blade (one of the best steels money can buy). The handle is available in a choice of four colours; grey, gold, green and blue, all of which are made from titanium with a carbon fibre inlay. The slip joint mechanism is very solid with a halfway stop.

The Bestech Junzi. If you're looking for a new UK carry folder, Confucious say "become the ideal man" and get a superior knife!

    Bestech Junzi Slip-Joint Folder

Posted by Iain fraser on 6th Jul 2021

I don't usually buy knives made in China. Having said that, after reading the positive reviews, I decided to give it a go and add it to my collection. Not disappointed. The blade closes perfect centre, which is quite impressive considering the gap is so tight. Great addition to my collection.

    Excellence

I've never reviewed before, but felt I had to in this case. As a retired criminal defence lawyer, I've had knives since the days in the UK when you could carry a fixed blade, folding locker, slipjoint, without any reason being required, unless the intention was to cause injury, which put the burden of proof on the prosecution rather than the defence, whereas now, the defence needs a water-tight reason, and has no chance of ever being believed. I remember the golden days of Spyderco, when they were made in Golden Colorado, before being farmed out abroad, for cheap steel, and cheap labour, but Spyderco kept the same exorbitant prices. But back to the review, This Bestech Junzi, is the best knife possible for the money. If Spyderco provided this quality, they’d double the price all day long. Sleek, sharp, smooth, light, titanium handle, with G10 inserts (don’ t listen to that nonsense about the G10 being raised being a flaw, it’s no problem, and if anything there for additional grip) a perfectly shaped blade, pointed, with plenty belly, and a perfectly comfortable jimped choil / ricasso, half stop, (though half stops are rarely useful in any knife, though the 1/4, 1/2 qne 3/4 stops in the Manly Wasp are effective) ) making it super safe, Made from S35VN stainless steel, bead blasted to echo the handle, easy OHO, and virtually with no chance of injury from accidentally closure. Why O why do these knife companies making slip joints, churn out knives with no ricassso, now choil, and with a ridiculous so called half stop, which means the blade will have sliced it’s way through your finger before the bone stops it, rater than the half stop. The Bestech Junzi is simply a 1st Class Knife.

    Excellent knife

I didn't want to spend this sort of money on an edc. I'm damn pleased I did. I LOVE this knife. When open the handle subtly flows into the blade and back up to the point. Its light (obviously it's a titanium body). The blade is smooth on opening and closing and locks solidly into place - it almost feels locked with its slip joint action. It was delivered razor sharp. Just beware - the pocket clip is slightly tight. Good in that you won't lose it but it does mean with some jeans/trousers you need to force it onto the pocket The only down side is that (as mentioned before) the carbon fibre inserts don't fit perfectly into the handle. But to be honest if I hadn't have read it in reviews I doubt I'd have noticed. It's a pity when you're dealing with a knife of this quality but it's also nit picking. Conclusion - if you're looking at it, buy it, you won't be disappointed

    Huge flaw

Posted by Alan on 7th Jun 2019

I don't know if this problem exists across all Junzis or just mine but despite the quality and finish on near all parts of this lovely little knife, my blade strikes the back spring on closing blunting a section, I've sharpened the chip away only to have it reoccur. This is a real bummer since the scales are gorgeous and feel lovely, the action of the knife is very satisfying, more so than more expensive knives, there is nothing else to complain about, it's just, it somewhat ruins the knife, I've had to sharpen it twice at work today just to keep it cutting smoothly :( Hopefully this was just a lemon but who knows.

    Great edc !

Posted by Ciderbooze on 22nd Dec 2018

I was a little sceptical of spending so much on a knife from China . I needn't of worried as what arrived is ab fine quality knife with great fit and finish , excellent materials of construction and perfect ergonomics. They have the spring tension just right giving a great lick up while still been able to open one handed. Arrived sharp with just a gentle stropping required. Heinnie worked their usual magic I ordered on Friday and my knives arrived Saturday ! Great work and great knives!

    I still think it's perfect

Posted by singleagain on 11th Aug 2018

Usually I jump straight in and write a review the moment I receive a knife from HH, and then think of all the other things I should have said. So on this occasion I took my time¦ I ordered the grey Junzi late on a Thursday evening, and it was with me by Saturday lunchtime. Great service as usual! This had been unavailable for a while, and I almost ordered the bronze version instead, but decided to wait for the grey one to come back into stock. This is a fantastic knife “ not only visually stunning, but ergonomically perfect with the benefit of being UK legal. Great blade, easy to deploy, reversible clip “ what more could you want? So I played with it for 24 hours and then noticed that top edge of the left-hand carbon fibre insert sat very, very slightly proud of the titanium handle. This was a tiny detail, we are only talking fractions of a millimetre here, but just enough to be noticeable. I called HH on Monday morning, and after a chat with Ruby she suggested that I returned the knife to them if I was in any way unhappy. (Well, I wasn't unhappy', rather more curious to see if a knife with a more perfect fit was available). So she emailed me a Returns label, and knife went back. On Wednesday afternoon I got a call from Nick to say that despite opening about fifteen boxes (!) all the knives seemed to be the same. I was OK with that, so the knife was returned to me, arriving mid-afternoon on Thursday. This is Customer Service on a level that most other companies can only dream about! Anyway, to sum up, this is one of the favourite knives in my collection and certainly my favourite EDC. Having seen the overall quality I could be tempted to buy all the other colours if money was no object “ if only! Thanks once again to Ruby and Nick and I look forward to buying from you again soon.

    The Best UK Legal Knife

Posted by Chris N on 10th Jan 2018

This is probably the best UK legal production knife on the market today. An absolute joy to use. It has a quality feel, smooth operation and a superb blade. Highly recommended.
