MOAB stands for Mobile Operation Attachment Bag
and with the new Tier System (included on the
MOAB 10 and 6 and sold separately) can rapidly
connect/disconnect to any of the RUSH series of
packs, DC Roller and bags with web platform. The
MOAB's include similar features from the RUSH
series of packs, including a top-access fleece-
lined, non-scratching sunglass pocket, internal and
external organizing pockets, key chain fobs, front
and side web platform, flag and name tape Velcro,
carry handle and hydration pouch compatibility. In
addition, both the MOAB 10 and 6 include a tech
pocket on the shoulder strap with an ear-bud
eyelet pass-through, great for a small radio or
smart phone.

A sling-styled bag that increases operational
flexibility in the field, training, at work or play.
Something unique to the MOAB's is their
ambidextrous sling-style shoulder strap,
accommodating either a left or right-handed user.
Both bags can also be spun around from the back
to the chest while being worn, making them easy to
work out of, or to access the hidden weapon
pocket. The Sandstone color easily crosses over
from field work to family trail hike or outing.

    Brilliant!

Posted by Richard @ ECTA on 16th May 2020

Got this for just about every day to day task, social, travel, training, work, you name it, this will cover it. Top quality build, have added a few pouches, like you do, and I love it!
As usual, first class service from HH that surpasses all others!

    Long Term

Posted by Adrian on 25th Mar 2018

Had this bag around 5 years now and still looks good as new. It's used everyday, Zero problems with stitching or build quality, loads of compartments. 5.11 produce great quality bags.

    Brilliant EDC

Posted by Richard on 30th Nov 2017

I bought one of these a couple of months ago - since then it has been used daily for a laptop bag/lunch bag/ EDC etc. It has been to Majorca on a family holiday and I use it when walking in the Northumbrian Fells where I live - for day kit anyway.

    First off -
Single strap bags - if I was given the chance to spend the £80 again on a bag I would buy the Rush 12 Rucksack AND a Moab 6 rather than the MOAB 10. The reason is that it is very easy to overload the MOAB 10 , if you do this then single strap carrying option is no good if you have to travel any distance on foot. I bought the 10 because I wanted a bag that could carry all my EDC and a 15" MacBook Pro - and it does, very well indeed.

So if you are using it as a day sack, where you are not expecting to walk long distances or carry any significant weight then it is brilliant - an alternative to a messenger. (I have a Peak Design Everyday Messenger which is absolutely superb).

    My daily kit:
15" MacBookPro, 14" HP laptop, chargers for both, North Face Storm Jacket, Berghaus Fleece, Deckhand's Beanie, Seal Skinz mittens, EDC kit, (knife, flashlight, medical, mini tools etc...), Wallet, packed lunch, spare phone, tissues, spare specs.

For a daily clobber bag you probably want to get a couple of Maxpedition pockets (I have a mini and a Micro) as there are limited small pockets for gubbins and you can Molle the mini onto the MOAB. The 'phone pocket will take a Galaxy Edge 7 but not a Note 8.

Strap - this could be thicker and easier to adjust when on - you need it long when walking any distance, to rig the bag across your body and you want it shorter if shouldering it like a rifle. Most day bag manufacturers could learn a LOT from Peak Design over buckle design, their one is a delight to use and the simplest around to adjust.

All in all a good day sack but if you plan on doing ANY walking with it keep the weight down and don't over load it - it is not a rucksack and it will put your spine out.
I will probably replace mine with a Rush 12 and a MOAB 6 and give the MOAB 10 to the boy as a schoolbag!

5 stars because it executes the concept of a single strap so well. But as for the concept itself - for me a single strap isn't as useful as I thought it would be. - but that is just me.

    Great Bag, Love It!!

Posted by Alex on 3rd Nov 2014

This is an awesome bag, great value for money, really solid construction and strong zippers (these are nicely colour coded to the bag in a very military matte paint).

I can?t give this bag a full five stars because it does have two minor flaws... if you do intend on using a hydration bladder you?ll find that the pipe will interfere with the sunglasses/media felt lined pocket in the top centre, rendering it unusable and the hydration pocket is a little tight. Also there are some rubberised grip pads on the lower back pad, all these seem to do is make your shirt ride up your back and show off your pants.

The single strap design is an absolute boon, allowing quick access without removing the bag, great when you?re knee deep in mud! Awesome bag, you won?t be disappointed.

    Heavyweight 1-day bag.

Posted by Jed on 27th Sep 2014

I bought this for use as a heavy EDC (I have to change into a uniform at work) and for day-hikes and it does a great job for both - I love that I can get in and grab stuff without stopping walking. The internal organiser pockets (both in front and the mesh in the main space) are well thought out and hold plenty of stuff in their own spot. I can keep my maxped mini pocket-org in the larger mesh pouch which is great.
The hydration system works well except that the hose must go through the main pouch of the bag, which I don't like, and the comms pocket is next to useless, unless I was using a radio with a headset/ptt I can't see myself ever using it.
My only other issue, as with my other 5.11 bags, is that it's easy to over-fill. I feel like the bag can handle it, but my back can't!

    Excellent!

Posted by Sam on 7th Aug 2014

Had this bag for some time now, bought on a Thursday afternoon and arrived Friday morning. As normal first class service from Heinnie.

Anyway the bag its self is simply fantastic. I use mine every day with out fail.

I was a little worried about its small size to start with but I fits a 13" laptop perfectly plus many other items. I've even managed to pack light whole weekend loads in it.

I've been a fan of the 5.11 bags for a while also owning the rush 72, which now just seems massive!

So 7 months on and daily use and abuse it still looks new.

You get what you pay for.

    Great Commuter bag

Posted by John on 25th May 2014

I have been using this for a few weeks now as the bag I take to work, but I can see it getting used a lot for travelling, day trips etc.

Quality seems excellent. Nice size, the front organiser section is very versatile and the main bag has plenty of space if you need it. Don't tend to carry it for long distances. but so far the single strap design is comfy and i really like the way you can get to it without taking the strap off. I've got the sandstone version, looks to have a greener tinge to it than the photos suggest, though it looks well

As others have said the "comms pouch" isn't that useful for phones, might be good for an ipod. Other than that, no complaints and very pleased with the purchase.

    Great bag

Posted by John on 12th Apr 2013

Very pleased with this purchase. Capacity is not huge, but is perfect for day pack or commuter bag. Front admin pocket has plenty of compartments for pens, and includes a zip pocket for items that need to be more secure. Concealed carry pocket is perfect for a wallet, mobile or tablet. Main storage area is relatively uncluttered, with pockets in the lid.

The bag is well made, and actually has quite a weight to it - a lot good quality nylon layers - but you don't notice it when it's on your back. The comms pocket just about fits a Galaxy S4 with a fairly bulky case, but is not very accessible.

    PROS:
    Excellent build quality
    Ambidextrous system works perfectly
    Great attention to detail
    Plenty of compartments
    Comfortable

    CONS:
Back plate in hydration pocket a bit tough to remove
Bag is a little 'stiff' but should loosen up after a bit of use
Comms pocket not really suited to mobile phone use as sits back over your shoulder

    Great service from Heinnie!!

Haven't had this bag long but so far very impressed. So many compartments everything is organised, I use it for commuting to college, gym stuff and it's a great overnight bag, a lot of room for the technology I carry and respective chargers. Took it out in the rain today and everything inside was bone dry. Heard the shoulder strap can be uncomfy but I haven't found this myself. Great bag for edc in most fields, overnight or light hiking bag. If your debating getting this bag stop and just get it !!
